1004th -- The Small Still Voice

“Things could always be worse.” That's what I tell myself whenever I feel
like complaining about the trials in my path. I guess it's my way of
being thankful that the situation I'm in isn't as difficult as the trials
and tribulations that many others go through. Sometimes we just have to
appreciate our "burden" and learn to look on the bright side of things.
It is easy for anyone to have a pity party and have a “woe is me” attitude,
but when we take the time to see our many blessings, we will remember how
blessed and fortunate we really are. Looking at our glass as half empty
does nothing to rejuvenate and reinvigorate our spirit because we will
continually focus on what we are missing rather than seeing all that we
possess. We must remember how fortunate we really are despite our
hardships and be quick to speak words of thanksgiving, gratitude and
praise for all that God has given us.

We should never expect only good to come our way because it is in the
trials that we become strengthened, empowered and built up for our
future. Some see the bad times as only that. They murmur, complain and
wish their burden wasn't so heavy without realizing the purpose of that
burden. When we take a moment to see the lessons that we've learned in
times past for the trials that we overcame, we can begin to appreciate the
new trials in our path and realize that they do serve a purpose. Having
the correct attitude has much to do with the final outcome. When we get it
deep in our minds that we will become better, wiser and stronger at the end
of our trial, then we will face it with a renewed vigor and determination
and with a deep knowing that it is serving a purpose to make us more than
we were before.

I encourage you to have a good and right attitude despite your trial and
hardship. Whatever your situation may be whether it is physical,
financial or emotional, face it with a renewed fervor that you will become
better in the end because of that situation. Tell yourself that your
situation is serving a purpose to help you and equip you to face any
situation that may come your way in the future. I encourage you again to
rejoice and be exceedingly glad in the midst of your trial. Let God know
that your eyes of faith are not focused on the physical, but they are
focused on the Eternal God who is able to bring our answers in ways that
we have never thought of or imagined.

Praise the Lord for the Joy He gives in the midst of difficulty!

I hope this message ministers to your heart to rest in the peace of the
Lord. Do not allow anything to make you worry about or question your life.

THE SMALL STILL VOICE

It was a sunny, Spring day, but that was lost on me. In my mind a thousand
concerns and worries were racing around and around. Looking back now I
can’t for the life of me remember a single one of them. In the days that
followed like most worries they all either faded or amounted to nothing.
At the time, though, they seemed like they were going to wreck my life. I
had even foolishly taken the day off work so I could spend more time on my
worrying. I couldn’t think. I couldn’t relax. I couldn’t even sit still.

Hoping to clear my head I drove to a local lake that had a graveled path
around it. As I walked along my brain continued to race. Halfway around I
stopped at a small bench and sat down. My legs weren’t tired, but my brain
was exhausted.

After sitting a few minutes I just let go and stopped thinking. I listened
to the gentle music of the birds singing their love songs in the trees. I
watched as the sun sparkled and danced off the crystal clear waves of the
lake. I noticed the first wild flowers of Spring growing towards the
light. I breathed in the fresh, clean air. I felt at peace for the first
time all day. It was then that I heard the small, still voice of God
whispering in my mind. “What are you so worried about?,” He said. “I have
loved you since the day you were born. I love you now. And I will continue
to love you forever.” I stayed happily there on that bench for a long
time. And when I finally left I took the peace and love with me. I
remember singing childhood hymns as I half walked and half danced the rest
of the way around the lake. It felt so good knowing that I was loved.

The next time that the foolish voices of worry start chattering in your
head, tell them to shut up. Then sit down, be quiet, and listen for the
small, still voice of God. He will be there waiting to love you, to guide
you, to strengthen you, and to bless you with His peace forever.

Read and meditate on these scriptures:

Habakkuk 3:17-19 “Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall
fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields
shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there
shall be no herd in the stalls: Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy
in the God of my salvation. The LORD God is my strength, and He will make
my feet like hinds' feet, and He will make me to walk upon mine high places...”

Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to them
that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.”

Hebrews 13:5-6 “Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be
content with such things as ye have: for He hath said, I will never leave
thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper,
and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.”

Isaiah 26:3-4 “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed
on Thee: because he trusteth in Thee. Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for
in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength.”

Philippians 4:8 “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever
things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure,
whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if
there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”

All of these scriptures can be found in the King James Version Bible.
