231st -- The Stone Cutter

God has created us with a special purpose in mind. Each person has a great
quality that is unique to only them. There are many moments in life when
we wish we were someone else because we don't see our special qualities. It
is important that we recognize that we have been created by God Almighty as
individuals. God has made you special and no one else around you possesses
your unique qualities. We need to look at ourselves as important vessels
that are able to do great things for ourselves as well as for others. I
encourage you to never wish you were someone else. Be yourself and take
encouragement in the fact that God created you to be you, not someone else.
(Psalm 139:14-18) (2 Corinthians 6:16) (Revelation 5:9-10)

This is a good story that encouraged my heart to know that God doesn't make
mistakes. He has made each person differently for a reason and that is to
accomplish and fulfill different works in areas where this world needs us.
I hope this message encourages and ministers to your heart to love yourself
and know that you are able to do great things with your life.

THE STONE CUTTER

There was once a stone cutter who was dissatisfied with himself and with
his position in life.

One day he passed a wealthy merchant's house. Through the open gateway, he
saw many fine possessions and important visitors. "How powerful that
merchant must be!" thought the stone cutter. He became very envious and
wished that he could be like the merchant.

To his great surprise, he suddenly became the merchant, enjoying more
luxuries and power than he had ever imagined, but was envied and detested
by those less wealthy than himself. Soon a high official passed by, carried
in a sedan chair, accompanied by attendants and escorted by soldiers
beating gongs. Everyone, no matter how wealthy, had to bow low before the
procession. "How powerful that official is!" he thought. "I wish that I
could be a high official!"

Then he became the high official, carried everywhere in his embroidered
sedan chair, feared and hated by the people all around. It was a hot summer
day, so the official felt very uncomfortable in the sticky sedan chair. He
looked up at the sun. It shone proudly in the sky, unaffected by his
presence. "How powerful the sun is!" he thought. "I wish that I could be
the sun!"

Then he became the sun, shining fiercely down on everyone, scorching the
fields, cursed by the farmers and laborers. But a huge black cloud moved
between him and the earth, so that his light could no longer shine on
everything below. "How powerful that storm cloud is!" he thought. "I wish
that I could be a storm cloud!"

Then he became the storm cloud, flooding the fields and villages, shouted
at by everyone. But soon he found that he was being pushed away by some
great force, and realized that it was the wind. "How powerful it is!" he
thought. "I wish that I could be the wind!"

Then he became the wind, blowing tiles off the roofs of houses, uprooting
trees, feared and hated by all below him. But after a while, he ran up
against something that would not move, no matter how forcefully he blew
against it - a huge, towering rock. "How powerful that rock is!" he
thought. "I wish that I could be a rock!"

Then he became the rock, more powerful than anything else on earth. But as
he stood there, he heard the sound of a hammer pounding a chisel into the
hard surface, and felt himself being changed. "What could be more powerful
than I, the rock?" he thought.

He looked down and saw far below him the figure of a stone cutter.

I encourage you to never fall victim to the lie that your life would be
better if you were someone else. We need to recognize that God has made
us the way we are for a reason and we should not go ahead with life wasting
time wanting to be in someone else's shoes. There's a quote that says, "The
grass is always greener on the other side." When we look at other people's
lives, there's always something that we wish we'd have. Instead of being
envious and jealous of someone else's lifestyle, we need to look at our own
life and see the qualities that we possess that are special and unique.

Every person has their own challenges in life. There's not one person in
this world that is completely trouble free. Never think that you are the
only one going through trials and challenges. Jesus says that while we
are on the earth we will have tribulation, but we are to be of good cheer
because Jesus has overcome the world for us. Take comfort in the Lord and
know that God loves you just the way you are. Be yourself and remember to
recognize your special talents and abilities that only you possess.
(Job 14:1) (John 16:33) (Jeremiah 31:3)

Read and meditate on these scriptures:

1 Peter 2:9 "But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy
nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of Him
who hath called you out of darkness into His marvellous light."

Exodus 4:10-13 "And Moses said unto the LORD, O my Lord, I am not eloquent,
neither heretofore, nor since Thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am
slow of speech, and of a slow tongue. And the LORD said unto him, Who hath
made man's mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the
blind? have not I the LORD? Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth,
and teach thee what thou shalt say."

Jeremiah 1:5-8 "Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before
thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a
prophet unto the nations. Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, I cannot
speak: for I am a child. But the LORD said unto me, Say not, I am a child:
for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command
thee thou shalt speak. Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to
deliver thee, saith the LORD."
