The Reward

My God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:19

Because of a recession and home renovations, our financial resources were depleted. Each month our
budget was stretched to meet many expenses. There was no money for the perm my hair needed so badly.

One Friday afternoon as a car pulled out of a parking lot, I noticed that the driver had left her
handbag on the ground. When honking my horn failed to get her attention, I raced to collect the
handbag and followed the car. Because the traffic lights hindered my progress, the car soon disappeared.

At home I checked the woman's handbag for identification. Her place of employment was given, but
when I called, no one answered. Her home address was listed without a telephone number. The
telephone operator confirmed that the number was unpublished.

I was able to track down the woman's husband, whom I knew only by reputation. Not long after my
call, the woman arrived at my house to collect her handbag, which she had not even missed!

Monday morning I was again in the parking lot. The woman whose handbag I had recovered was speaking
to her husband and pointing to me. Suddenly the husband was standing by my car window saying, "It was
nice of you to retrieve my wife's handbag. We were so relieved that nothing was missing. My wife had
plane tickets and other valuables in her handbag. You have been so kind; I would like to give you a reward!"

I protested vigorously, but he continued, "Here is my card. I would like to give you a free hairdo-anything
you want done. Please call and arrange an appointment."

Recognizing the man as one of the most renowned hairdressers, I changed my tune and excitedly accepted
his card. "Praise the Lord!" I exclaimed. "You have answered one of my prayers. Thank you!"

In my car I had a glorious prayer, praise and service, thanking God for showing me that, "Our Heavenly Father
has a thousand ways to provide for us, of which we know nothing."
