It is easy for us to get down and discouraged when all we see is trials,
setbacks and heart aches. It is for this reason that we should change our
focus and see life as a child sees it. A child has a carefree life. They
don't see the doom and gloom that adults focus on. Children love
wholeheartedly, they see the good in everything and in everyone and
problems don't make children want to worry. That is why I believe we
should have that same mentality. We should have that same trust that all
will be well. No matter the trials and tribulations that come our way,
our focus should remain constant that God is good and that all things will
work together for our good. A child trusts his parents to take care of
them. They don't act trusting and then doubt. They trust wholeheartedly.
A child knows instinctively that his parents have his best interest in
mind. That is how we should act towards God, as little children.
Trusting, unmoved in faith, knowing that our Heavenly Father loves us with
an unwavering, unfailing and unending love that will hold us, nurture us
and protect us no matter what comes our way.
Be encouraged to have that same childlike faith all through your life.
Don't allow yourself to grow up and act as adults do, but rather stay
childlike in your heart towards God and know that your trust in Him will
be to your benefit and to your advantage. Remember, Jesus says in Matthew
18:3-4 “Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as
little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever
therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest
in the kingdom of heaven.” I encourage you again to have a childlike
trust in the Lord and see the beauties of life as children see them. Do
not allow yourself to grow old in your heart seeing only the bad, murmuring
about all that is wrong and complaining about all that you've lost.
Instead, see life with refreshed eyes, love with renewed passion and enjoy
life with a renewed vigor and appreciation that you haven't had before.
I hope this message inspires and challenges your heart to appreciate the
simple things in life. Focus on your blessings, see all that you possess
and know that having a childlike faith and trust will bless you more than
you can think or imagine.
WATCH THE CHILDREN
I just love weekday afternoons in May. It is during this special time that
I get to see one of the most wonderful sights in the world. It is a sight
that teaches me again and again about what life truly is all about. I get
to see it mainly when I go to pick up my youngest son from school. I can
even hear it as I get out of my car. Its musical and magical sound floats
happily through the air from the playground just off the preschool
building. It is the sound of children at play.
Each day just before I pick up my boy I take in this glorious and happy
sight of the preschool children having one last recess before they go
home. Many of the parents are there as well smiling as they watch that
special joy that their children are creating. I look on as one happy boy
swings and calls out for his teacher to watch. I see two smiling girls
skip, laugh, and gather handfuls of dandelions to give their Moms. I watch
as two boys ride the rocking horses with all the energy and delight that
their little hearts can muster. I smile upon seeing a girl hanging upside
down from the miniature monkey bars and giggling at the whole world. As I
get my own son he too runs for the swing set for one last ride as well
before we head home. He may have the body of a 12 year old, but he still
has the bliss of a child's heart, mind, and soul.
These beautiful children remind me everyday that life truly is about joy,
laughter, and love. Anything else is just details. We may all have to go
to our jobs, clean our homes, raise our families, and take care of all the
tasks in life. Still, there is no reason we can't do all these things with
love, laughter, and joy. In fact the only thing we should take seriously
in this life is the love and joy that we choose and share. It is what
makes life worth living and it is God's greatest gift to us all. Cherish
that gift then. Rejoice in it. Share it with the world. And if you don't
think you can remember how to then stop by a playground one day and watch
the children.

Read and meditate on these scriptures:
Psalm 103:1-5 “Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless
His holy name. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits:
Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who
redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness
and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy
youth is renewed like the eagle's.”
Psalm 118:5-9 “I called upon the LORD in distress: the LORD answered me,
and set me in a large place. The LORD is on my side; I will not fear:
what can man do unto me? The LORD taketh my part with them that help me:
therefore shall I see my desire upon them that hate me. It is better to
trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man. It is better to trust in
the LORD than to put confidence in princes.”
Psalm 40:1-4 “I waited patiently for the LORD; and He inclined unto me, and
heard my cry. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the
miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. And He
hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see
it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD. Blessed is that man that maketh
the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside
to lies.”
Isaiah 26:3-4 “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on
Thee: because he trusteth in Thee. Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in
the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength.”
