112th -- The Gossiper

I hope you are doing well and rejoicing greatly in the goodness of the
Lord. You may be going through some struggles and life may be hard on you
right now, but remember what Psalm 30:5 says, "…weeping may endure for a
night, but joy cometh in the morning". Be assured that God is with you and
will strengthen you to overcome every obstacle that may be in your path, so
be quick to show yourself strong in Him and know that victory comes to all
those who endure to the end. (Psalm 23:4) (Ephesians 6:10)

I know of many people who are quick to talk about others in truth or lies,
so when I came across this story, I thought it would be fitting to share
with you the hurt and damage that gossip causes; and once spread how it
cannot be completely undone. I hope this message speaks to your heart to
be sensitive to those around you and remember to judge not, unless you
yourself be judged. (Matthew 7:1)

THE GOSSIPER

A woman repeated a bit of gossip about a neighbor. Within a few days the
whole community knew the story. The person it concerned was deeply hurt and
offended. Later, the woman responsible for spreading the rumor learned that
it was completely untrue. She was very sorry and went to a wise old sage to
find out what she could do to repair the damage.

"Go to the marketplace," he said, "and purchase a chicken, and have it
killed. Then on your way home, pluck its feathers and drop them one by one
along the road." Although surprised by this advice, the woman did what she
was told.

The next day the wise man said, "Now, go and collect all those feathers
you dropped yesterday and bring them back to me."

The woman followed the same road, but to her dismay the wind had blown all
the feathers away. After searching for hours, she returned with only three
feathers in her hand.

"You see," said the old sage, "It's easy to drop them, but it is impossible
to get them back. So it is with gossip. It doesn't take much to spread a
rumor, but once you do you can never completely undo the wrong."

There are many people whether they are Christians or unbelievers who love
to see others make mistakes, so they can quickly talk about them and gossip
their short falls. This is exactly what the enemy wants for us to do, so
people will be turned away from Christianity. The Bible declares there is
non righteous and all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God, so
for us to judge others is wrong in the eye's of the Lord; for we ourselves
have all done wrong at one time or another. Jesus said "Judge not, that
you be not judged. "For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged;
and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you."
(Romans 3:23) (Matthew 7:1-2)

We need to keep in mind that in life we are always going to make mistakes
and there is not one person that is perfect, so let us be like Christ and
have compassion and love towards others when they fall short and instead
of them being turned away because of our judgmental attitude, they will
come to us and be embraced just as Jesus embraces all who come to Him.

Read and meditate on these scriptures:

Luke 6:36-37 Jesus says
"Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is
merciful. Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall
not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven."

Matthew 7:1-6 Jesus says
"Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what
judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it
shall be measured to you again. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in
thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine
eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, first cast
out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast
out the mote out of thy brother's eye."

John 13:34-35 Jesus says
"A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love
one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this
shall all men know that ye are My disciples, if ye have love one to
another."

All scriptures can be found in the King James Version.
