A family friend told me a wonderful story of God's love, mercy and grace
that I would like to share with you. My friend told of how his grandmother
or his mother's mother was taken to the hospital and was very near death.
The woman was 90 years old, but her mind and intellect was sharp as ever.
When my friend found out that his grandmother was near death, he bought a
plane ticket to send his mother to be with her mother in California in her
final moments. When she arrived at the hospital, the doctors had said
that the grandmother only had hours to live, but my friend's mother was
determined to keep her alive just a little bit longer. She prayed with
her mother and asked the Lord to give her an extended time so that she may
witness to her mother about Jesus Christ. The woman who is 90 years old
had never accepted Christ as Lord and Savior because she stuck with her
traditions which she had been taught as a child. She continued to pray to
the Saints instead of going to the One who Gives Life and Life Everlasting.
With only a few hours to live as the doctors had said, the elderly woman
was prayed for by her daughter, my friend's mother, and soon after she
regained her strength, she began speaking with her daughter and the other
family members that were in the hospital room with her. My friend's
mother then spoke to her mother again about the saving grace of Jesus
Christ. She told her mother what she had said so many times before, but
this time my friends grandmother really listened to her daughter. She
asked her mother if she would like to receive Jesus as her Lord and Savior
and this time she said Yes. She prayed and asked Jesus to come into her
heart to be her Lord and Savior and that was the beginning of a great
journey for that sweet elderly woman.
A few days later after feeling better she left the hospital and went home
to be with her family. That night as she went to sleep, the older woman
had a dream. She dreamed that there were two men waiting for her. One
man was dressed in very dark clothing, with a very scary demeanor and
disposition. He grabbed her by the arm and tried to drag her away with
him even hitting her on the head to make her comply, but then a man clothed
in white standing afar off from her whose demeanor was shining as a light
motioned for her to come to him. She was very scared and confused and
asked the man dressed in white who he was and without speaking she felt
him say “I am Jesus.” He then wrapped a shining, gleaming white robe
around her and she was amazed at the beauty of this robe. And then she awoke.
As she fell back asleep, she had another dream. This time she was standing
with two men at the edge of a vast ocean filled with thousands upon
thousands of people who were trying to stay above water, but they couldn't.
The woman instinctively knew that she should have been in the water with
them, but she didn't understand why she wasn't. She asked the men why she
was standing with them and not in the water with everyone else and they
answered and said “You have been saved from that fate because of your faith
and trust in The Lord Jesus.” And then she awoke. In the morning she told
her sons and daughters the dreams that she had and they were all amazed.
The following night she had another dream. This time the two men took her
on a journey and showed her many wonderful things including a beautiful,
magnificent, humongous white house. She was amazed at the beauty of this
house and asked whose it was. She thought someone either very important
or very wealthy could only afford to live in that giant mansion. To her
shock and amazement the men told her that this was going to be her house,
but that it wasn't finished yet. She would have to spend a little more
time back at her old house so that the new one can be finished for her.
Then she awoke. She was amazed at the beauty that she saw. (John 14:1-3)
She told her daughter of all the wonderful things that she was shown and
her daughter rejoiced at the mercy and grace of the Lord Jesus. During
that month the elderly woman continued to have visions. She would be wide
awake and she could see angels preparing food for her to eat and another
time she could see the robe that she was given by Jesus being cleaned three
different times and every time the robe was cleaned, it became whiter and
whiter. She said it looked as if it had electricity flowing through it
with the way it was shining and glimmering. About a month later that
elderly lady graduated to Heaven and moved into her newly finished White
House. (Acts 2:17) (1 Kings 19:5-8) (Revelation 7:13-14)
I am so thankful for the Lord's mercy and grace. The Bible says that God
wishes for none to perish, but that all would come to repentance. It took
ninety years, but that woman finally came to know the Lord Jesus as her
Lord and personal Savior. I believe the Lord extends His mercy towards us
because His love is so great for us. God waits with open arms for us to
call upon Him and receive His goodness, mercy and grace that comes without
pretense, without motive and without judgment. His grace and mercy covers
our sins as if they were never committed. He paid the price for our
salvation on the cross of Calvary and all who open their hearts to the
Lord Jesus Christ receive that same covering that washes away every sin,
every shortfall and every mistake. (2 Peter 3:9) (Ezekiel 33:11) (Romans 10:9-13)
When God looks upon the redeemed, He doesn't see their sins, but rather He
sees the blood of His Son covering them and in turn reconciling us back to
God again. Never think that you are so bad that God can't forgive you.
He waits as a loving Father ready to grab you up in His arms and show you
His eternal love. Also don't do as so many others have done and put your
trust and faith in the Saints that so many pray to. They have no more
power than you and I do because they were once human just like we are.
Instead go to the One who created the Saints, go to the One who holds all
power in Heaven and on Earth and trust in Jesus for your eternal salvation.
There is no other way and thankfully God has made Jesus so easily
accessible to us all. (1 John 1:7-10) (1 Corinthians 2:9-10) (Acts 4:12)
Call upon Him and be redeemed and make Heaven your eternal home. When you
do, you will be eternally secured and you will have a big, beautiful White
House to call your own.
Read and meditate on these scriptures:
Romans 5:8-10 “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we
were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified
by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we
were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more,
being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.”
Revelation 22:8-9 “And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I
had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel
which shewed me these things. Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not:
for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them
which keep the sayings of this book: worship God.”
Ephesians 2:8-10 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of
yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should
boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good
works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”
2 Corinthians 5:17-21 “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new
creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
All of these scriptures can be found in the King James Version Bible.
