1260th -- Attracting People To You

What is a light? A light is something that brightens or illuminates a dark area. Did you know that you are a light? You have been instilled with a light that is meant to brighten up someone's life. Your life is meant to be a lighthouse that others are drawn to, that others can come to feel safe with. The light that is within you is meant to help make every dark situation a little brighter than it was before. The Lord Jesus tells us in Matthew 5:14-15 “Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.” The gifting of the Lord promises that we have been equipped with all that is needed to help those who are helpless, to lift up those who are discouraged, to welcome in all who feel unwanted, and by the example that we set, our simple light can help to brighten up this whole world. (Romans 12:9) (Luke 6:35-36)

Never discount your light. Never believe the lie that you are not able to make a difference. Your life is extraordinary. Your gifting is unique. And all that is required for you to make a significant impact upon others has already been instilled within your being. You were born special, you were born gifted, but you must believe it for yourself. No one else can fulfill your life's destiny except yourself. That is why it is important to believe God and trust His promises over your life. The Lord Jesus continues in verse 16 and encourages us to “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” (Philippians 2:3) (Luke 6:31)

Our main objective in life should be to bring glory and honor to the Lord whom we love. And we do that each and every time when we love our neighbor as we love ourselves, when we esteem others higher than ourselves, when we do for others what they can't presently do for themselves. Let your light so shine my friend and do all that is required of you to do. Don't pass an opportunity to let your light shine. Don't feel unable because your confidence isn't at its highest, but rather trust God's Word and know that He has called you, equipped you and trusts you to fulfill your life's purpose until He calls you home. (Matthew 22:37-40) (1 Samuel 16:7)

I hope this message inspires and challenges your heart to believe that your light is significant and meant to make this world a better place one soul at a time.

ATTRACTING PEOPLE TO YOU

In West Virginia folklore there is a story of a country doctor who was called out to a holler late one night to assist a woman about to give birth. By the time the doctor arrived at the farmhouse, things had progressed to a point where the doctor asked the husband to help him by holding a gas lantern up high in order to illuminate the makeshift delivery room.

Before long, the courageous mother delivered a healthy baby boy. As the father lowered the lantern, the doctor barked an order to keep the lantern aloft: “We're not done yet.” Shortly, a second child appeared on the scene, a healthy baby girl. Shaken by the unexpected arrival of twins, the father heard the doctor say once again, “We can't stop now. It looks as if it's going to be triplets.” To which the stunned father, still holding the lantern high, replied, “Do you think it's the light that's attracting them?”

Light has a quality of attraction. I recently left my office door open late one afternoon in our mountain home and, at dusk, the light from within attracted -- a hummingbird! (Coaxing a hummingbird out of the house is a little like pushing a rope. Mostly, whatever you do doesn't work.)

You, too, have a light that attracts...an inner light. Not visible to the naked eye, but apparent just the same. We speak of a “twinkle” in the eye or a “flicker” of warmth in the heart. Some people shine with a light of kindness. Others emit a light of hope. There are those who glow with enthusiasm and still others who radiate love.

Almost all creatures are drawn to light, including humans. Do you want to attract people to you? Positive and life-affirming inner qualities can attract people like a warm fire on a cold night. What will draw other people to you best cannot be purchased in any department store. They will respond to that which radiates from within.

You may not always see it, but your light is shining through. And it's one of your most attractive qualities!

Read and meditate on these scriptures:

Romans 12:15-18 “Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep. Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits. Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.”

Matthew 25:37-40 Jesus declares
“Then shall the righteous answer Him, saying, Lord, when saw we Thee an hungred, and fed Thee? or thirsty, and gave Thee drink? When saw we Thee a stranger, and took Thee in? or naked, and clothed Thee? Or when saw we Thee sick, or in prison, and came unto Thee? And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these My brethren, ye have done it unto Me.”

2 Corinthians 1:3-5 “Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God. For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ.”

1 John 4:10-12 “Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us, and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and His love is perfected in us.”

2 Timothy 4:5-8 “But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry. For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love His appearing.”

All of these scriptures can be found in the King James Version Bible.
