1286th -- Message On Resisting Temptation

It is really amazing to me how subtle temptations come to our mind trying to lead us away from doing what we know we should be doing. I am in the midst of working on my third book, Messages of Hope Volume 3, and as soon as I began working on it, thoughts come to my mind trying to lead me away from working on the book and doing other things instead that “would be more fun” like playing a game, checking a YouTube video, chatting with friends, checking email, etc. etc. What I have found to be true is that these temptations have only one purpose and that is to draw you away from doing the most important thing. Whatever your goals or priorities are, you will be tempted to do something else instead of focusing on what you know is most important. That is why we have to be diligent, focused, unwavering and steadfast in doing what we know we must do. We must realize that every temptation will lead us down the wrong path and keep us from fulfilling the dreams, goals and desires that are within our hearts. (Proverbs 4:23) (1 Peter 5:8-9)

When we buckle down and start doing what we know we should be doing and then immediately thoughts start coming to our mind to do something else, that is when we know we are on the right path. The temptations are there to lure us away from fulfilling our destiny. They will entice us to do anything and everything except what we know we are supposed to be doing. That is why we have to be wise enough to recognize the enemy's traps and push past the tempting thoughts and focus more on our fulfilled destiny. No matter how hard the enemy may fight us, we can overcome his evil devices and stand in our victory in the end. We just have to be future conscious so that while we are fighting temptation presently, we can look through our eyes of faith and be proud that we continued the good fight of faith and accomplished all that was in our hearts. (Galatians 5:16-26) (1 Timothy 6:6-12)

No matter what your dreams or goals may be, I am sure the same temptations come your way trying to keep you from focusing on the goals ahead of you. I want you to know that you have the ability to resist every temptation and continue on the right path that will lead to your fulfilled destiny. You simply must remain focused, keep a strong mindset, have an unwavering resolve and have the forethought that you will be proud of yourself in the end because you didn't give in to the temptations that tried so hard to lead you astray. The Lord is faithful to give us the strength needed to overcome any temptation that comes our way. We simply must be diligent in guarding our minds and resisting every thought or suggestion that we should be doing something else that is “more fun or more enjoyable.” (James 4:5-8) (Psalm 18:29-33)

I encourage you to recognize the enemy's tactics against your life. Whatever you are meant to accomplish, be wise to the temptations that come and try to stop you from fulfilling what is in your heart. Don't give in, don't get sidetracked, but with laser focus look ahead at what needs to be done and do it with all diligence. Stay faithful in whatever endeavor you are pursuing until you fulfill it and bring it to pass. Let every dream, desire and wish come true for you. With hard work everything is possible with us. We shouldn't give up when we don't receive the right answer right away, but we should see with our eyes of faith the end result and continue on until our faith meets with reality and we manifest what was once only a dream in our hearts. Believe that you are well able to overcome any temptation and stand in your victory. All you need is inspiration, focus and determination. And remember with God all things are possible. (1 Corinthians 10:13-14) (James 1:13-17)

Read and meditate on these scriptures:

1 Corinthians 10:13 “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”

Hebrews 12:1-3 “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider Him that endured such contradiction of sinners against Himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.”

James 1:13-17 “Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth He any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. Do not err, my beloved brethren. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.”

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.”

All of these scriptures can be found in the King James Version Bible.
