Do you often think about your legacy? Do you imagine what you will be remembered for long after you are gone from this earth? I do and often. Why? Because who will become better when I am selfish? Who will rise higher when I don't share an encouraging or inspirational word? Who will believe in themselves again when I don't tell that one how special they are? Whether we realize it or not, we are world changers. We have within ourselves the ability to leave every bad situation a little better than it was before. How? We do so by showing love without motive, we do so by caring for the downtrodden, bearing another's burdens, lifting another higher and simply following the command of the Lord Jesus to love our neighbor as we love ourselves. That is the kind of life that we can be proud to have lived because it made a difference that will never be forgotten or erased. (Galatians 6:2) (Matthew 19:19)
When we do as the Bible says and prefer one another, I believe we are letting go of any selfishness because we want to see someone else rise higher, become better and stand taller than they were before. The blessing of the Lord comes when our only motive is to see others stand in their victory and be all that God has made them to be. It doesn't take much to make a difference in this world. When we simply pay attention to the opportunities that come our way, our simple gestures of love will go much farther than we could ever think or imagine. Think of your life and the positive impact it can make. Don't allow blessings to pass you by because of the busyness of life, but with aimed focus bless, encourage, inspire, affirm, love, envelop and share hope with everyone who comes your way. (Romans 12:9-10) (Galatians 6:9-10)
I hope this message encourages and inspires your heart to see the blessings that come in acknowledging and affirming one another.
TO BE REMEMBERED
It was just what I needed to hear at just the right time.
I was surprised and pleased.
I was lifted up and inspired to do more, be more and perhaps even expect more from life.
I had no idea that anyone would even notice and yet, she did. A perfect stranger opened my eyes, touched my heart and gave me a gift.
“Aren't you Bob?” she asked.
“Yes, I'm Bob Perks,” I replied and reached out my hand to touch hers.
“I see you on television, don't I?”
“Yes, periodically.”
“I knew it was you. I was telling my friend as we walked by. I just knew it was you because of your smile. You always smile. Every time I see you, you're always smiling.”
My heart started pounding. My eyes opened wide. This perfect stranger touched me deep inside.
It wasn't my ego or needing to boast. She did something wonderful that I needed most.
She said, "I have noticed that you always smile. I love that about you, I have for awhile. It is such a pleasure to see someone kind. When I think of happy I have you in mind.”
Forgive me for asking, I am sure that it's true, “You do know that God is smiling down on you?”
Perhaps that explains it, my smiling you see. It is a reflection of God's love for me.
So, now I must ask you how do you want to be remembered?
To be remembered kindly...do something for someone who needs a gentle touch.
To be remembered as honest...live with such integrity that no one would ever question your intentions.
To be remembered as generous...be giving to all.
To be remembered as compassionate...don't just say you care, show it.
To be remembered as giving...give before you know there is a need.
To be remembered as a "person of faith"...be faithful in all your actions.
To be remembered as a good worker...remove from your vocabulary the words, "It's not my job."
To be remembered as a good parent...teach by example.
To be remembered as a good spouse...be a good listener, express love, be faithful and forgiving.
To be remembered as a friend...be trustworthy, honest, open and genuine.
To be remembered at all...live fully, love all and smile often.

Read and meditate on these scriptures:
Philippians 2:2-3 “Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.”
Galatians 5:22-26 “...the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.”
Philippians 2:3-7 “Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men.”
Galatians 6:1-4 “Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself. But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another.”
Ephesians 4:23-27 “And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another. Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Neither give place to the devil.”
