So many times in life because of the trials and tribulations that we go through we feel as if God has abandoned us leaving us helpless, without comfort and all alone. Though many of us may feel that way at one time or another, the Bible says the exact opposite as we read in Psalm 34:17-19 “The righteous cry, and the Lord heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles. The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.” We who have accepted Christ as our Lord and Savior can rest assured that God has not and will not leave us alone in our troubles. That verse says that He is near to the brokenhearted and saves or comforts those who have a contrite spirit. We don’t have to feel alone because we can call on the God of all comfort Who will give us what we lack so that our feet may stand on solid ground accomplishing all that God has put in our hearts to accomplish. (Psalm 40:1-5) (2 Corinthians 1:3-4)
No matter how strong the storms rage and no matter how bleak our situation may seem at any given moment we should have a quiet confidence that God is with us in the midst of it and that all will be well in the end. We can’t have fear in our hearts and confess victory with our mouths. We have to believe that goodness; joy, peace, calmness and rest belong to us so that even while we are in the midst of conflict and uneasiness we will have the forethought that our victory lay just ahead of these obstacles. Someone who faced many struggles and hardships was King David. Even though he would be named to be the King of Israel at a young age, he had many struggles and hardships, trials and tribulations and yet he is one of the greatest heroes in the Bible. Despite his hardships, the Bible says David was a man after God’s own heart. He trusted the Lord no matter how strong the enemy he faced and no matter how bleak his situation seemed at any given moment. King David knew that victory would be his in the end and that’s why he wrote in Psalm 23:6 “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.” (Psalm 28:6-9) (Acts 13:22-23)
Let us have that same kind of confidence and assurance as David had. Let us trust that all things will work together for our good in the end. Let us also have the forethought to know that every hardship and struggle will make us better, wiser and stronger than we were before so that we can use what we learned in the storm to better our life and the lives of those around us now and in our future to come. (Romans 8:28)
I hope this message encourages your heart to see that God is our refuge and strength and a very present help in trouble.
I SEE GOD
“Sometimes it is so hard to believe in a God that you can’t see.” These were the words at the end of a letter a friend sent me. It was full of the pain and suffering that life often brings. My friend had endured so much in his young life and his latest tragedy had even made him doubt his lifelong faith.
I pondered his words as I looked out my window. The cool breeze was gently swaying the trees back and forth. I walked outside and felt its tender touch on my own face while the branches of a mighty Oak seemed to wave to me. Then I smiled because I knew that God had given me the answer my friend needed.
This is what I wrote back to him. “My friend, I can’t see the wind, but I still know it is there. I can see its affect on the trees as they dance in its breeze. I can feel its gentle kiss on my cheek. I can watch as it lifts a fallen leaf and makes it dance and fly through the air. In the same way I can’t see God’s face while I am here on Earth, but I still know He is here. I can see the affect He has on countless souls. I can feel His gentle love flow through so many human hearts. I can watch as He lifts a fallen person and helps them to dance and fly once again.”
“I can see God in a thousand kind acts every day. He smiles in every person’s smile. He greets us in every friendly wave. He touches us in every heartfelt hug. He inspires us in every caring thought. He uplifts us in every encouraging word. His love lives in our love and His life lives in each of our lives. He will carry you through this pain and loss you are facing and lead you back to love and joy once again. Remember, we all can see God if we only look through the eyes of our hearts. Open yours to His love and allow Him to heal you now.”
May all of you who read this see God in your lives as well.

Read and meditate on these scriptures:
2 Corinthians 1:3-4 “Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.”
Isaiah 26:3-4 “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee: because he trusteth in Thee. Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength.”
Psalm 91:14-16 “Because he hath set his love upon Me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him My salvation.”
Psalm 34:8-10 “O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in Him. O fear the LORD, ye His saints: for there is no want to them that fear Him. The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing.”
