1455th -- There It Is…Now It’s Gone!

We should always remember and keep in mind how precious and fleeting life really is. We have been given no guarantees that we will be here on this Earth a year, a month or even a week from now. That is why we should make the most of each new day that we are blessed enough to see so that when we look back over our life we will have many good and blessed memories that will make our hearts glad and remind us that we used our time well. How does one use their time well? They do so by being optimistic about their future; they focus on the good, they are quick to laugh, smile and enjoy what is before them even if it’s part of their daily routine. We don’t have to go through life like a robot repeating the same actions over and over on autopilot going through the motions, but not really living life to its fullest potential. We can still keep a countenance of joy while we are fulfilling our obligations, and we can let our light shine brightly where all who see us will want to emulate that same positivity in their life. (James 4:13-14) (Matthew 5:16)

Be encouraged to see that life is fragile. We are not promised tomorrow, but we do have today to bring to fruition goodness, gladness, thankfulness, appreciation, love, joy and peace that surpasses all understanding. God’s goodness is extended to all who will simply receive it and when we in humility lift up our eyes giving thanks and praise to God for our life and our many blessings I believe the Lord smiles down in acknowledgment and sees how much we appreciate what we have been given. I know that a life lived in thankfulness will always be a blessed life because that one knows that true goodness, grace and mercy is extended to us by our Heavenly Father who has all power in Heaven and on Earth. I encourage you again to live each day as if it was your last so that you can take from it every gift and blessing that it offered you and make yourself available to be a blessing to your fellow man so that they may be lifted up, encouraged and inspired just as you have been in times past. I greatly believe the blessings that we bestow upon our fellow man, the Lord will bestow upon us just the same. Always remember you reap what you sow, you harvest what you plant and the more you give the more you will gain. (Psalm 138:1-8) (Luke 6:31)

I hope this message inspires and challenges your heart to take every good opportunity that comes your way to be blessed and to be a blessing. Allow your life to stand taller, to rise higher and to become all that God has created you to be.

THERE IT IS…NOW IT’S GONE!

There it is. Now it's gone. A chance to do something, say something, make a difference, or make no difference at all except for having the chance and taking it.

I call them the “Shoulda Dones.”

I shoulda done this or I shoulda done that.

I often talk about living life fully. Making every moment count. I tell you not to live this day as if it were your last, but to live it like it was the first day. A day so full of surprise and opportunity that the mere thought of having another day, makes you jump out of bed excited.

I love the “stop and smell the roses” people.

I love to read about people who saw a need and decided to fill it.

I rejoice in the stories I read about people who stopped running the rat race and did what they loved to do.

I remind you to always kiss them goodnight, tell them “I love you!,” say “thanks” and mean it and smile, really smile a lot.

So, what happened to me that brought all of this on? Scott Hagler.

His mother wrote a review of my book “I wish you enough.” She mentioned that her son had died in January and how much the book helped her.

He was a young man leaving behind a wife and three children.

I wrote to her and she sent me a link to his blog.

I got to read in his words about the last two years of his life and the comments from friends and family.

There it is. Now it's gone. Today will bring you many chances to...

Say “I love you” or “Thank you!”

Stop what you are doing and do something silly

Buy flowers and give them away to strangers

Pay for a stranger's breakfast

Run ahead to hold the door

Let a driver cut in front of you

Call a friend you haven't spoken with in a long time

Check on a neighbor

Paint, write, or sing out loud

Dance to the music in the mall

Or pull out a lawn chair and sit in the sun when the temperature is so low the tip of your nose freezes.

I had talked about doing it for days and yesterday I did.

It didn't make the news but it made me feel better about myself because I seized the moment.

Do something today for yourself or someone and tell me about it. I'm out to do something for someone else today.

It's not just another day, it's another chance! “There it is...Now it's gone!”

By Bob Perks

Read and meditate on these scriptures:

Psalm 28:7-8 “The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in Him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise Him. The LORD is their strength, and He is the saving strength of His anointed.”

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 “Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.”

Psalm 119:10-16 “With my whole heart have I sought Thee: O let me not wander from Thy commandments. Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against Thee. Blessed art Thou, O LORD: teach me Thy statutes. With my lips have I declared all the judgments of Thy mouth. I have rejoiced in the way of Thy testimonies, as much as in all riches. I will meditate in Thy precepts, and have respect unto Thy ways. I will delight myself in Thy statutes: I will not forget Thy word.”

Psalm 34:4-8 “I sought the LORD, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. They looked unto Him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed. This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear Him, and delivereth them. O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in Him.”

All of these scriptures can be found in the King James Version Bible.
