149th -- Thank You Lord

It is very important that we are thankful to the Lord for the many
blessings that He bestows upon our life. Many times we are quick to
forget the good things that God has given us and tend to think more about
the trouble and heartache that life sometimes brings. I hope this message
on giving thanks will be a blessing to you and remind you to give thanks
to the Lord instead of forgetting His many blessings.

THANK YOU LORD

A newly arrived soul in Heaven was met by St. Peter. The saint toured the
soul around Heaven. Both of them walked side by side inside a large
workroom filled with angels.

St. Peter stopped in front of the first section and said, "This is the
Receiving Section. Here, all the petitions to God said in prayer are
received. The soul looked at the section, and it was terribly busy with so
many angels sorting out petitions written on voluminous paper sheets from
all the people of the world.

They walked again until they reached the 2nd section, and St. Peter told
the soul, "This is the Packaging and Delivery Section. Here, the graces and
blessings the people asked for are packed and delivered to the persons who
asked for them down on earth." The soul saw how busy it was. There were so
many angels working in that room, since so many blessings were being
packed and delivered to earth.

Finally at the farthest corner of the room, the soul stopped at the last
section. To the surprise of the soul, only one angel stayed there idly,
doing nothing. "This is the Acknowledging Section," St. Peter told the
soul. "How is it that there is no work here?" asked the soul. "That's the
sad thing," St. Peter answered. "After the people receive the blessings
they asked for, very few send their acknowledgements." "How does one
acknowledge God's blessing?" asked the soul.

"Simple," St. Peter answered. "Just say, 'Thank you, Lord'."

As I read this story I thought about the ten leper's that Jesus healed and
how only one of them returned to Him to thank Jesus for his healing. Here
is the story and its entirety and I would like for you to read it.

Luke 17:11-19 declares, As Jesus continued on toward Jerusalem, He reached
the border between Galilee and Samaria. As He entered a village there, ten
lepers stood at a distance, crying out, "Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!"
He looked at them and said, "Go show yourselves to the priests." And as
they went, their leprosy disappeared. One of them, when he saw that he was
healed, came back to Jesus, shouting, "Praise God, I'm healed!" He fell
face down on the ground at Jesus' feet, thanking Him for what He had done.
This man was a Samaritan. Jesus asked, "Didn't I heal ten men? Where are
the other nine? Does only this foreigner return to give glory to God?"
And Jesus said to the man, "Stand up and go. Your faith has made you well."

Where would we be if it were not for the blessings of the Lord upon our
life? Many times we pray and seek God for an answer to a problem and when
God faithfully answers our prayer, we sometimes forget to acknowledge Him
and give thanks to the Lord for meeting that particular need. Just as we
seek God in prayer to meet our needs, we need to have that same drive to
give thanks to the Lord for His many blessings upon our life. (Psalm 103:3)

The Bible declares in Psalm 34:1 "I will bless the Lord at all times; His
praise shall continually be in my mouth." Let us acknowledge God's
blessings and bombard the throne room of Heaven with our praises and
thanksgiving for the great things God has done for you and I alike.

Whatever problem has you worried and making you feel like giving up, I
challenge you in the midst of your problem to give thanks to the Lord that
He has heard your prayer and will meet your every need and nothing shall
by any means overtake you. I encourage you to praise God even before your
answer comes and show your trust in Him by offering the sacrifice of praise
and thanksgiving, today. (Matthew 6:8) (Hebrews 13:16-17)

Read and meditate on these scriptures:

Psalm 103:1-5 "Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless
His holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits:
Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems
your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender
mercies, Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is
renewed like the eagle's."

Psalm 9:1-2 "I will praise You, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will tell
of all Your marvelous works. I will be glad and rejoice in You; I will
sing praise to Your name, O Most High."

1 Chronicles 16:8-13 "Oh, give thanks to the Lord! Call upon His name; Make
known His deeds among the peoples! Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him; Talk
of all His wondrous works! Glory in His holy name; Let the hearts of those
rejoice who seek the Lord! Seek the Lord and His strength; Seek His face
evermore! Remember His marvelous works which He has done, His wonders, and
the judgments of His mouth, O seed of Israel His servant, You children of
Jacob, His chosen ones!"

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 "Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in
everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you."

All scriptures can be found in the New King James Version.
