1495th -- One Thing To Remember

When your life on this earth is said and done what do you want to be remembered for? What do you want others to think about when they think on your life? It is important that we ask ourselves these simple questions from time to time so that we can see if we are living life purposefully. So many times we are on the go with our daily routines from sun up to sun down, but at the end of the day did we really accomplish anything? I believe we should make each new day count. When we do things purposefully we will be accountable to the time that we have been entrusted with. That is why I believe we should go back to basics that bring true meaning to life. The Lord Jesus declares in Matthew 22:37-39 “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.” When we take time to seek God in prayer our day will go better because the Bible says that God will reward those who diligently seek Him. (Hebrews 11:6) (Matthew 6:27-34)

Our main job in life is to love God, live a life that is pleasing to Him and then do our best to love our neighbor, to be there for them in their time of need and to help elevate their life to greater heights as we would wish would be done to us in our time of need. We can’t merely say that we love God without acting in the same manner as our words proclaim. Our words must be backed up with action. We must pray purposefully, we must devote our time to the Lord purposefully, we must act kindly, thoughtfully and lovingly towards others purposefully knowing that their life will become better because of our simple interaction with them. That will be a life well lived because it will be lived in love and we know through the Scriptures as well as through living life that love never fails, that love covers many faults and that love welcomes all no matter their shortfalls or setbacks. Let us always be mindful to shower down blessings upon those around us that will never be forgotten or erased from their minds. (1 Peter 3:8-12) (Luke 6:30-36)

I hope this message inspires and challenges your heart to place love at the center of everything you do in life because in the end the love you gave will be remembered.

ONE THING TO REMEMBER

My eternally young soul is having problems with my rapidly aging body again. This time it is old Mr. Brain. It seems like this guy can’t go a day without forgetting at least one thing. He keeps rechecking the appointment calendar and shopping list over and over. He takes my body into a room and then has to stop and remember why he is there. He remembers my first day of kindergarten, but forgets what someone said 5 minutes ago. Maybe he is just getting a little tired after all these years or maybe he just has too much to remember every single day. Either way my soul laughs when he forgets and tries to help him along. My soul knows that the only thing we really have to remember is to just love.

If we all can remember to just love then we will be living the way we were meant to live. If we all can remember to just love then we will be doing what God wants us to do. If we all can remember to just love then it will not matter how many times we forget to dust or buy a loaf of bread. Jesus gave his disciples this one command to remember: "Love each other." It truly is the only thing we need to do to live a blessed life in this world.

So many of us spend our lives in a flurry of activities better off forgotten. We are constantly working, spending, and doing so many things just trying to fill the hole within our hearts. It doesn’t work, though. It is like throwing pebbles in the Grand Canyon. Only love can fill that hole. Only love can make us whole. Only love can bring us back to oneness with God.

Remember to just love then. It is what we are here for. It is what we are made for. Choose love, share love, and grow in love everyday of your life. It is your love that will remind you what is truly important in this life. It is your love that will remind you how to help others and make this world a better place. It is your love that will remind you who you truly are.

Read and meditate on these scriptures:

Galatians 6:9-10 “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.”

Romans 12:15-18 “Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep. Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits. Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.”

Hebrews 6:10 “For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward His Name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.”

Colossians 3:23-25 “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.”

All of these scriptures can be found in the King James Version Bible.
