164th -- The Road Of Life

Many times we find it hard to let go of trying to control everything and
letting God lead the way. We to remember that God's ways are better, wiser
and can take us to heights that we never imagined if only we let God lead
the way. Jesus says in John 6:37
"…Whosoever comes to me I will in no way
cast out."
If you're finding it hard to trust the Lord and let Him have
control of your life, I encourage you to seek Him in prayer and try the
Lord to see if God will not do what He said He would do. (Isaiah 55:8-9)

I found this story very encouraging and thought you would find inspiration
through it to trust the Lord and let God be the driver of your life if you
have not done so already.

THE ROAD OF LIFE

At first I saw God as my observer, my judge, keeping track of the things I
did wrong, so as to know whether I merited heaven or hell when I die; He
was out there sort of like a president. I recognized His picture but I
didn't really know Him.

But later on when I met Christ, it seemed as though life were rather like
a bike ride. but it was a tandem bike, and I noticed that Christ was in
the back helping me pedal.

I don't know just when it was that He suggested we change places, but life
has not been the same since. When I had control, I knew the way. It was
rather boring and predictable...It was the shortest distance between two
points.

But when He took the lead, He knew delightful long cuts up mountains and
through rocky places at break-neck speeds; it was all I could do to hang
on! Even though it looked like madness, He said, "Pedal!"

I worried and was anxious and asked, "Where are you taking me?" He laughed
and didn't answer, and I started to learn to trust. I forgot my boring
life and entered into the adventure. And when I'd say, "I'm scared!" He'd
lean back and touch my hand.

He took me to people with gifts that I needed; gifts of healing, acceptance
and joy. They gave me gifts to take on my journey, my Lord's and mine. And
we were off again. He said, "Give the gifts away; they're extra baggage,
too much weight." So I did, to the people we met, and I found that in
giving, I received, and still our burden was light.

I did not trust Him at first, to be in control of my life, I thought He'd
wreck it; but Jesus knows bike secrets, knows how to make it bend to make
sharp corners, knows how to jump to clear high rocks, knows how to fly to
shorten scary passages.

And I am learning to shut up and pedal in the strangest places, and
beginning to enjoy the view, and the cool breeze on my face, with my
delightful constant companion, Jesus Christ.

And when I'm sure I just can't do anymore, He just smiles and says..."Pedal".

Let it be a comfort in your heart to know that God wishes to increase the
happiness in your life and not to take it away. He is the friend who
sticks closer than a brother, and the God who commands His angels to
protect you from all manner of evil. (Proverbs 18:24) (Psalm 91:11)

If Jesus is not in control of your life, I encourage you to invite Him into
your heart and ask that He would take control and lead you to the best
paths possible. Jesus promises that He would never leave you nor forsake
you and because of your trust in Him, Jesus is committed to strengthen you
and bless you beyond all measure and compare. (Romans 10:13) (Hebrews 13:5-6)

Read and meditate on these scriptures:

John 6:37-38 Jesus says,
"All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and
the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out. "For I have come down
from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me."

Psalm 118:14-18 "The LORD is my strength and song, and is become my
salvation. The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tabernacles of
the righteous: the right hand of the LORD doeth valiantly. The right hand
of the LORD is exalted: the right hand of the LORD doeth valiantly. I
shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD. The LORD hath
chastened me sore: but he hath not given me over unto death."

Psalm 118:8-10 "It is better to trust in the Lord Than to put confidence
in man. It is better to trust in the Lord Than to put confidence in
princes. All nations surrounded me, But in the name of the Lord I will
destroy them."

Psalm 27:1-4 "The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid? When the
wicked came against me To eat up my flesh, My enemies and foes, They
stumbled and fell. Though an army may encamp against me, My heart shall
not fear; Though war should rise against me, In this I will be confident.
One thing I have desired of the Lord, That will I seek: That I may dwell
in the house of the Lord All the days of my life, To behold the beauty of
the Lord, And to inquire in His temple."

All scriptures can be found in the New King James Version.
