This world is constantly trying to convince us that success has to do with
how big our bank account is. Through the experiences of many celebrities
and sports figures who are lonely and miserable, we know that happiness
does not come in having vast wealth, but rather how much love that person
has in their life. I encourage you to not fall for the enemy's tricks, who
is constantly bombarding our thoughts trying to make us think that having
material wealth is what is needed in order for us to be happy. If you are
not satisfied with what you have now, there is nothing this world has to
offer that will make you feel otherwise. Only with the Love of God in
your heart can you find the satisfaction and contentment that is sought
throughout this world.
This is a good story that I found very interesting which conveys what
success really consists of. It shows how we do not need to have the
riches of the world in order for us to be content with our life. I hope
this message ministers to your heart to focus on what you do have and not
think that the riches of this world will bring the peace and happiness
that is advertised as ideal.
WHAT IS SUCCESS?
An American businessman was at the pier of a small coastal Mexican village
when a small boat with just one fisherman docked. Inside the small boat
were several large yellow fin tuna. The American complimented the Mexican
on the quality of his fish and asked how long it took to catch them. The
Mexican replied only a little while. The American then asked why he didn't
stay out longer and catch more fish?
The Mexican said he had enough to support his family's immediate needs.
The American then asked, but what do you do with the rest of your time?
The Mexican fisherman said, "I sleep late, fish a little, play with my
children, take siesta with my wife Maria, stroll into the village each
evening to relax and play guitar with my amigos; I have a full and busy
life, seņor."
The American scoffed, "I am a Harvard MBA and could help you. You should
spend more time fishing and with the proceeds buy a bigger boat, with the
proceeds from the bigger boat you could buy several boats, eventually you
would have a fleet of fishing boats. Instead of selling your catch to a
middleman, you would sell directly to the processor, eventually opening
your own cannery. You would control the product, processing and
distribution. You would need to leave this small coastal fishing village
and move to Mexico City, then LA and eventually New York City where you
will run your expanding enterprise."
The Mexican fisherman asked, "But seņor, how long will this all take?" To
which the American replied, "15-20 years."
"But what then, seņor?"
The American laughed and said, "that's the best part." "When the time is
right, you would announce an IPO and sell your company stock to the public
and become very rich, you would make millions."
"Millions, seņor? Then what?"
The American said, "Then you would retire. Move to a small coastal fishing
village where you would sleep late, fish a little, play with your kids,
take siesta with your wife, stroll to the village in the evenings where
you could relax and play your guitar with your amigos."

Let this message be an encouragement and a reminder that Love, Peace and
Contentment have nothing to do with money or material gain. There is a
quote that says, "The best things in life are free." Enjoying one another,
spending time with your kids, and just appreciating and enjoying this day
can make a world of difference to someone who is feeling down or depressed.
If you are going through your days in life as if you are in a race, I
encourage you to slow down, look around and enjoy this time that God has
given you on the earth. (James 3:13-18) (James 4:13-15) (Psalm 118:24)
I encourage you also to never fall for the enemy's lies who is constantly
trying to make us feel that our worth comes in how many accomplishments we
have achieved in our life. God says you are a success and has crowned you
with a crown of righteousness. Never think that you are less important
than anyone else because you have not reached the goals that others have
reached. You as an individual are just as important to the Lord as anyone
else that He has created. Please never forget how much God loves you
personally. (John 10:10) (John 8:44) (2 Timothy 4:7-8) (Psalm 139:17-18)
Read and meditate on these scriptures:
Romans 8:38-39 "For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels
nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor
height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us
from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
1 Timothy 6:6-10 "Now godliness with contentment is great gain. For we
brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing
out. And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content. But
those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many
foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. For
the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have
strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through
with many sorrows."
Matthew 6:31-34 Jesus declares "Therefore do not worry, saying, 'What
shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For after
all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that
you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His
righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not
worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things.
Sufficient for the day is its own trouble."
Isaiah 26:3-4 "You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on
You, Because he trusts in You. Trust in the Lord forever..."
