207th -- The Trouble Tree

The Bible declares in Psalm 118:24 "This is the day the Lord has made; We
will rejoice and be glad in it." We need to forget about the problems of
life and simply enjoy and appreciate this time that God has given us on the
earth. Many times we only focus on the problems and tend to forget to enjoy
right now. As children of God we are told not to worry about anything
because God Himself is on our side and is well able to take care of our
every need. Remember the Lord's promises when problems arise and know that
God wishes for you to rest in Him and not fall for the tricks of the enemy
who is always trying to make us lose focus of the Lord with his temptations
of worry and fear. (Matthew 6:25-30) (Romans 8:38-39) (John 10:10)

This is a good story that shows how we should always bring our problems to
the Lord instead of trying to carry their burden ourselves. Resting in the
Lord and knowing that God has the answers to our every problem is something
that we always need to keep in mind. We cannot do it all, but God can. In
Him there is peace and rest that surpasses all understanding. If you are
finding life difficult, I encourage you to take every burden that you have
to the Lord and ask Him to remove these problems and replace them with His
Peace. God is faithful to hear and answer your heartfelt prayers.
(Isaiah 40:28-31) (Matthew 11:28-30) (Philippians 4:6-7)

THE TROUBLE TREE

I hired a carpenter to help me restore an old farmhouse, and he had just
finished a rough first day on the job. A flat tire made him lose an hour
of work, his electric saw quit, and now his ancient pickup truck refused
to start.

While I drove him home, he sat in stony silence. Upon arriving, he invited
me in to meet his family. As we walked toward the front door, he paused
briefly at a small tree, touching the tips of the branches with both hands.

When opening the door, he underwent an amazing transformation. His tanned
face was wreathed in smiles as he hugged his two small children and gave
his wife a kiss.

Afterward he walked me to the car. We passed the tree and my curiosity got
the better of me. I asked him about what I had seen him do earlier. "Oh,
that's my trouble tree," he replied. "I know I can't help having troubles
on the job, but one thing's for sure, troubles don't belong in the house
with my wife and the children. So I just hang them up on the tree every
night when I come home. Then in the morning I pick them up again." "Funny
thing is", he smiled, "when I come out in the morning to pick'em up, there
aren't nearly as many as I remember hanging up."

I encourage you to take complete rest in the Lord and never allow the enemy
to make you feel like the problems of life are too numerous to handle. God
is so much bigger than our circumstances and sometimes we need a simple
reminder that God is still in control. The Bible says that God is so big
that He weighs the mountains and the hills in scales and balances. He has
created the heavens above with all its glory, the earth below with all its
splendor, not to mention you and I. There is no challenge too great for
our Lord. In Him is every answer to humanity's questions and concerns.
When Moses asked God what he should tell the children of Israel His name
is, God said tell them my name is I AM. (Isaiah 40:12-15) (Exodus 3:13-15)

When problems arise, never lose focus of the Great I Am. Give Him your
burdens and heartbreaks and ask the Lord to intervene and help you to
overcome. The Bible says that God loves you so much that He has carved
your name in the palms of His hand, so never think that God is too busy to
hear your prayers. The Bible says that when we pray, God stops what He's
doing so that He may attend to your cry. Take comfort in the promises of
the Lord and look at life in a fresh way and take confidence in the fact
that God wishes to meet your needs and lighten your burdens. Call upon Him
and give thanks to the Lord who promised, He would never leave you nor
forsake you. (Psalm 3:4-5) (Isaiah 49:16) (Psalm 34:4-6) (Hebrews 13:5-6)

Read and meditate on these scriptures:

Matthew 6:27-31 Jesus says
"Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to
his stature? So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of
the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you
that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Now
if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is
thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?"

Isaiah 40:28-31 "Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting
God, the Lord, The Creator of the ends of the earth, Neither faints nor is
weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, And
to those who have no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall
faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall, But those who
wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings
like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint."

Psalm 34:17-19 "The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, And delivers
them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to those who have a
broken heart, And saves such as have a contrite spirit. Many are the
afflictions of the righteous, But the Lord delivers him out of them all."
