I hope you are doing well and receiving every blessing that God has for
you. The Lord has spoken to my heart to write a message on protecting
ourselves from the attacks of the enemy. God has given me a couple
scriptures that show the authority we have as believers in the Lord Jesus
Christ. I hope this message both ministers to your heart and challenges
you to take your firm stance as a Child of God and realize the authority
that you possess through the power and blood of the Lord Jesus Christ.
The Bible declares in 1 Peter 5:8 "Be sober, be vigilant; because your
adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may
devour." I believe the key word in this scripture of warning is the word
may. The word may requires permission whereas the word will does not. The
enemy cannot will himself to enter our life and devour us because of God's
hedge of protection, but when we don't exercise our authority as the
children of God who have been bought with the precious blood of the Lord
Jesus Christ, then we are in essence giving the enemy the authority to
enter our life and wreak havoc as he always desires to.
(Job 1:10-11) (Luke 9:1-2) (John 10:10)
If we expect to live the abundant life that God wishes for each of us, then
there are some things that we must do. The first thing that we must do is
protect what enters our eye gate, ear gate and what we allow to come out
of our mouth. It is very important that we recognize that these three areas
of life have a lot to do with our happiness or miseries. We cannot expect
Peace, Joy, Love and Happiness when all we think about, listen to, talk
about or look at have to do with jealousy, envy, strife and anger. The
enemy of hell has many ways of bringing our way his evil devices and so we
must be quick to recognize them and not allow these tools of destruction to
enter into our life. It is our choice whether we allow the enemy to come
in or say no to the devil and take a strong stand against his evil plans.
(3 John 2) (Galatians 5:16-26) (Ephesians 6:12-18) (2 Corinthians 10:3-5)
Another scripture that comes to mind concerning protecting ourselves from
the enemy's devices can be found in Proverbs 4:23 which declares "Keep your
heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life." Just
as you would protect your home from a burglar trying to break in, so are
you to protect your heart from what you allow to enter into it. We would
never allow a burglar to break into our home and steal whatever they wanted
and yet concerning our heart, we take very little action protecting what
it is that we think and meditate on. Having a jealous heart will always
bring the invitation to the enemy to corrupt your thinking and fill your
heart with hatred, but protecting your heart and filling it with the Peace
and Love of God will bring to you the Joy of the Lord which will keep you
in His perfect peace. (Proverbs 4:24-27) (James 3:13-18) (Isaiah 26:3)
I encourage you to take a strong stance against the enemy and never give
him the permission that he requires to enter into your life. God has given
you a free will to either stand-up and take your stance as the royalty that
you are in Christ or give in to the enemy's lies and allow him to enter
your life to first make you miserable and finally devour you as is his
ultimate goal. I encourage you to pick the first choice and see yourself
as the King or Queen that God had in mind for you when you were first
created. Never give in to the enemy attacks, but rather stand steadfast
and diligent knowing that your firm resistance will be rewarded with
Blessings and Joy that are incomprehensible.
(1 Timothy 5:14-15) (Deuteronomy 30:19) (1 Peter 2:9) (1 Corinthians 2:9)
Read and meditate on these scriptures:
James 4:7-8 "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he
will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and He will draw nigh to you.
Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded."
Luke 10:19-20 Jesus declares "Behold, I give unto you power to tread on
serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing
shall by any means hurt you. Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the
spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are
written in heaven."
Matthew 16:19 Jesus says "And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom
of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in
heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven."
Psalm 91:14-16 "Because he hath set his love upon Me, therefore will I
deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known My name. He
shall call upon Me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble;
I will deliver him, and honour him. With long life will I satisfy him, and
shew him My salvation."
Ephesians 6:10-12 "Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the
power of His might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to
stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and
blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of
the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."
