246th -- Perfect Mistake

The Lord knows exactly how to intercede through our lives to touch someone
else who is in need. To make an impact that can never be erased, we need
to make ourselves available to the Lord so that He can work through us to
help that person in need. I truly believe our needs will be met much
quicker by the Lord when we make ourselves available to help someone else.
Giving of ourselves is a commandment that Jesus gave as He declared in
Matthew 10:8, "
…Freely you have received, freely give." I hope you receive
this revelation of being open to the Lord's leading because it will greatly
impact your life for the better. (Isaiah 55:8-9) (Jeremiah 33:3)

This is a great message that shows how God supernaturally works to meet His
children's needs. I hope this message inspires you to always make yourself
available to the Lord, and leads you to ask Him to use you as His vessel.

PERFECT MISTAKE

My mother's father worked as a carpenter. On this particular day, he was
building some crates for the clothes his church was sending to some
orphanage in China.

On his way home, he reached into his shirt pocket to find his glasses, but
they were gone. When he mentally replayed his earlier actions, he realized
what happened; the glasses had slipped out of his pocket unnoticed and
fallen into one of the crates, which he had nailed shut. His brand new
glasses were heading for China!

The Great Depression was at its height and Grandpa had six children to take
care of. He had spent $20 for those glasses that very morning. He was
upset by the thought of having to buy another pair.

"It's not fair," he told God as he drove home in frustration. "I've been
very faithful in giving of my time and money to your work, and now this."

Several months later, the director of the orphanage was on furlough in the
United States. He wanted to visit all the churches that supported him in
China, so he came to speak one Sunday at my grandfather's small church in
Chicago.

The missionary began by thanking the people for their faithfulness in
supporting the orphanage. "But most of all," he said, "I must thank you
for the glasses you sent last year. You see, the Communists had just swept
through the orphanage, destroying everything, including my glasses. I was
desperate. Even if I had the money, there was simply no way of replacing
those glasses. Along with not being able to see well, I experienced
headaches every day, so my co-workers and I were much in prayer about this.
Then your crates arrived. When my staff removed the covers, they found a
pair of glasses lying on top."

The missionary paused long enough to let his words sink in. Then, still
gripped with the wonder of it all, he continued: "Folks, when I tried on
the glasses, it was as though they had been custom-made just for me! I
want to thank you for being a part of that."

The people listened, happy for the miraculous glasses. But the missionary
surely must have confused their church with another, they thought. There
were no glasses on their list of items to be sent overseas.

But sitting quietly in the back, with tears streaming down his face, an
ordinary carpenter realized the Master Carpenter had used him in an
extraordinary way.

I can only imagine what Joy there will be in heaven on that day when God
shows each of us how we were used to impact someone else's life. I
encourage you to never allow the enemy to cheat you from the chance of
being a blessing to someone else. The Lord Jesus is right when He said it
is more blessed to give than it is to receive. (Acts 20:35)

Let us all have the hands and heart of the Lord Jesus Christ. When He was
on the earth, the Bible says that He had compassion upon the people and
healed all who came to Him who were stricken with disease. Jesus freely
gave and as our example tells us to freely give. When we stand before God
on Judgement Day, the only thing that will please Him besides our salvation
is what we did to help our brother or sister who was in need. I encourage
you to think about your life and see how you can be a blessing to someone
else. (Matthew 12:15-18) (Matthew 5:38-48) (Revelation 20:11-12)

Read and meditate on these scriptures:

Luke 6:35-36 Jesus declares
"But love your enemies, do good, and lend,
hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will
be sons of the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil.
Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful."

John 4:35-38 Jesus declares
"…Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and
look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest! And he who
reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit for eternal life, that both he who
sows and he who reaps may rejoice together. For in this the saying is
true: 'One sows and another reaps.' I sent you to reap that for which you
have not labored; others have labored, and you have entered into their labors."

Luke 6:38 Jesus says
"Give, and it will be given to you: good measure,
pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your
bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you."
