269th -- Trousers

Prayer needs to be an essential part of each of our lives. Many times we
become lazy in our commitment to the Lord concerning our prayer time and
whether we realize it or not, we are opening a door for the enemy to attack
our life either spiritually or physically. It is important that we never
forget that God is the sustainer of our lives and as such we are to
continually be in communication with Him.

Never believe the lie that prayer doesn't work. The devil knows the power
that each believer possesses in prayer and he tries everything he knows to
keep us from bending our knee and spending time alone with the Lord. I
encourage you to never become lazy in your prayers. Prayer is our greatest
power in life and so when the tough times come as they always do, the
committed prayer warrior will be well able to handle every situation that
comes their way. (Jeremiah 29:11-14)

This is a great and simple story that shows the blessings that are received
when a person is dedicated and continuous in prayer. I hope that you are
inspired by this simple message to make prayer an embedded part of your life.

TROUSERS

Two pastor's wives sat mending their husbands' pants. One of them said to
the other, "My poor John, he is so discouraged in his church work. He said
just the other day he was considering resigning. It seems that nothing
goes right for him."

The other replied, "Why, my husband was saying just the opposite. He is so
enthused, it seems like the Lord is closer to him than ever before."

A hushed silence fell as they continued to mend the trousers; One Patching
The Knees And The Other The Seat.

Let this story be an encouragement to you to never faint in your prayers.
If you become lazy in anything else, never let it be your prayer time. The
Bible says that we are to pray without ceasing, meaning that we are to
continually be in communication with the Lord. Jesus never said, "If you
pray...", but He said many times, "When you pray..." It is a requirement
from the Lord that we are to seek Him in prayer both to give thanks for our
blessings as well as to seek direction and guidance.
(1 Thessalonians 5:16-24) (Luke 18:1-7) (Matthew 6:7-8) (Luke 11:2-4)

I pray that you are encouraged to spend time alone with the Lord if you
haven't already. He promises to bless you, strengthen you and lead your
life on to the best path possible as He sees fit.

Read and meditate on these scriptures:

Philippians 4:6-7 "Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and
supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your
hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."

Psalm 5:1-3 "Give ear to my words, O LORD, consider my meditation. Hearken
unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto Thee will I pray.
My voice shalt Thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I
direct my prayer unto Thee, and will look up."

James 5:14-16 "Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the
church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of
the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall
raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may
be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much."

1 Thessalonians 5:16-23 "Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every
thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning
you. Quench not the Spirit. Despise not prophesyings. Prove all things;
hold fast that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil. And the
very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and
soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ."

All scriptures can be found in the King James Version Bible.
