Our thoughtful and loving acts of kindness does speak volumes towards the
recipient even when we don't think so. When you have the chance to bless
or encourage someone in need, step in and allow yourself to be the vessel
that God works through. The Lord will reward our good works as He declares
in Mark 9:41, "For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in My
name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose
his reward." I encourage you to be a blessing when the opportunity arises
because in doing so you will be rewarded by the Lord in like manner.
I hope you will be blessed and inspired by today's story.
A KIND INTERRUPTION
One Sunday at my church, the choir had finished singing the anthem and the
pastor was rising to deliver the message. It was a moment of holy
expectation. Suddenly, a teenage girl, third from the left on the front
row of the choir, rose and stepped out across her fellow choir members and
around the piano. Clad in maroon robe and gold stole, she made her way
down the steps and toward the side aisle.
I thought, "If she is going to leave, she should go out the back."
But she was not leaving. She made her way to the fourth row of pews, sat
down next to her friend and gently placed her arm around her.
Then I knew. Twelve hours earlier her friend had lost her grandmother, who
had been suffering from an illness. Her friend came to church to restore
her strength through worship. Arriving late, she found an open pew to herself.
As Leslie sat next to Bethany and gently hugged her, those in the
congregation smiled and shed small tears of joy, of love for the friend
who showed Christ's love through a simple act of companionship. She risked
causing a distraction to minister to a friend.
Such are the small acts of kindness and love that are the fabric of a
congregation.
The pastor delivered a strong message that day. So did Leslie.

The only thing that we will have to show God on our Day of Judgment is what
we did to help those around us. It is true that our salvation comes freely
through the Lord Jesus Christ, but as His children and disciples, we are to
carry on His work on this earth and care for humanity just as Jesus Christ
did as our example. (Hebrews 10:23-25) (Ephesians 2:10)
Be encouraged in the Lord and remember that you are His workmanship. Since
we are all created in God's image and likeness, let us carry on and show
forth His love towards that one who is discouraged or not feeling uplifted
in their spirit. We each have the chance to step in and show God's love
to a hurting and dying world, but the choice is up to us. I encourage you
to make the choice to be helpful and encouraging when the need arises.
Read and meditate on these scriptures:
Matthew 25:37-40 Jesus says, "Then the righteous will answer Him, saying,
'Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You
drink? 'When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe
You? 'Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?' "And the
King will answer and say to them, 'Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you
did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.'"
Matthew 5:14-16 Jesus declares, "You are the light of the world. A city
that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it
under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in
the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good
works and glorify your Father in heaven."
John 13:34-35 Jesus says, "A new commandment I give to you, that you love
one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this
all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."
