378th -- The Stop Light

We are to live our life as living testimonies unto the Lord. We are not to
be conformed to this world, but rather we are to live purely and allow our
light to shine in the midst of the darkness that is around us. Whether we
realize it or not, the unbeliever is watching to see if we are practicing
what we preach. The most important thing that any believer can do besides
witnessing to others the saving grace of Jesus Christ is to live life by
His statutes. Doing what's right in God's eyes regardless of whether
people are watching us is sure to please the Lord and keep His hand of
blessing upon our life. I encourage you to always do the right thing no
matter how small it might be because your testimony will speak volumes of
the life that you have lived. (Romans 12:1-2) (Matthew 5:14-16) (James 4:15-17)

I hope you are encouraged by today's message to live your life as a living
testimony so that others may see God through you and in effect be turned
to Him for their eternal salvation.

THE STOP LIGHT

Two cars were waiting at a stoplight. The light turned green, but the man
didn't notice it. A woman in the car behind him is watching traffic pass
around them. The woman begins pounding on her steering wheel and yelling
at the man to move. The man doesn't move. The woman is going ballistic
inside her car, ranting and raving at the man, pounding on her steering
wheel and dashboard.

The light turns yellow and the woman begins to blow the car horn and
screams profanity and curses at the man. The man looks up, sees the
yellow light and accelerates through the intersection just as the light
turns red. The woman is beside herself, screaming in frustration as she
misses her chance to get through the intersection.

As she is still in mid-rant, she hears a tap on her window and looks up
into the barrel of a gun held by a very serious looking policeman. The
policeman tells her to shut off her car while keeping both hands in sight.
She complies, speechless at what is happening.

After she shuts off the engine, the policeman orders her to exit her car
with her hands up. She gets out of the car and he orders her to turn and
place her hands on her car. She turns, places her hands on the car roof and
quickly is cuffed and hustled into the patrol car. She is too bewildered
by the chain of events to ask any questions and is driven to the police
station where she is fingerprinted, photographed, searched, booked and
placed in a cell.

After a couple of hours, a policeman approaches the cell and opens the
door for her. She is escorted back to the booking desk where the original
officer is waiting with her personal effects. He hands her the bag
containing her things, and says, "I'm really sorry for this mistake. But
you see, I pulled up behind your car while you were blowing your horn and
cussing a blue streak at the man ahead of you. Then I noticed the: 'Choose
Life' license plate holder, the 'What Would Jesus Do' bumper sticker, the
'Follow Me to Sunday School' bumper sticker and the chrome plated Christian
fish emblem on the trunk.

So, naturally . . . I assumed you had stolen the car."

It is easy for any person to give in to frustration and lose their temper
in anger, but we as believers are separate from this world and so we should
be Christ minded at all times and continually put on the garment of praise.
The Bible tells us in Isaiah 61:3 to put on the garment of praise for the
spirit of heaviness. Even in the times of trials that tempt us to lose our
peace and joy, we are to lift up the name of Lord by our praise for His
provision and confession of His faithfulness. (Ephesians 4:22-27)

Be encouraged to do what is right in the eyes of the Lord continually and
do not fall for the tricks of the enemy. Have confidence in the ability
of our God and do your best to be a faithful representative of His Love on
the earth. (Deuteronomy 12:28) (John 8:44) (1 John 4:11-13)

Read and meditate on these scriptures:

Isaiah 26:3-4 "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on
Thee: because he trusteth in Thee. Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in
the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength."

Matthew 7:12-14 Jesus says
"Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that
men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the
prophets. Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad
is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in
thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth
unto life, and few there be that find it."

Psalm 37:23-27 "The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and He
delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down:
for the LORD upholdeth him with His hand. I have been young, and now am
old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging
bread. He is ever merciful, and lendeth; and his seed is blessed. Depart
from evil, and do good; and dwell for evermore."

All of these scriptures can be found in the King James Version Bible.
