425th -- Quotes To Remember

The greatest thing that we can attain in this life is to have wisdom and
understanding. Without wisdom we can never reach the heights of victory
that God wishes for us to stand upon. It is through wisdom that we triumph
personally, professionally and spiritually. The Bible declares in Proverbs
4:7 "Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy
getting get understanding." We are to seek wisdom and understanding above
everything else because it is through them that we receive all that God has
meant for us to have. (Proverbs 8:10-11) (Proverbs 1:5) (Proverbs 2:1-6)

We also read in Proverbs 13:20 "He that walketh with wise men shall be
wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed." Be encouraged to seek
wisdom throughout your life and show yourself to be in the company of
wisdom filled and wisdom seeking friends because you will receive from
those whom you are associated with. (1 Corinthians 15:33-34) (Proverbs 1:1-9)

I hope you are inspired and challenged by these quotes that are the focus
of today's message. Read them slowly and carefully and receive the wisdom
that each of these quotes possess.

QUOTES TO REMEMBER

To fight against sin is to fight against the devil, the world
and oneself. The fight against oneself is the worst fight of all.
-Martin Luther

I arise today through God's strength to pilot me; God's might to
uphold me; God's wisdom to guide me; God's eye to look before me;
God's ear to hear me; God's word to speak for me; God's hand to
guard me; God's way to lie before me; God's shield to protect me.
-St. Patrick

When the sinner comes to Christ's door begging mercy, he comes as
a proud beggar standing on personal worth, until the Spirit brings
conviction and the sinner sees himself entirely unworthy, naked of
all worth, and Christ comes to him and grafts him into the True Vine.
-Thomas Boston

Remember, Christian soul, that thou has this day, and every day
of thy life, God to glorify...Jesus to imitate...A soul to
save...A body to mortify...Sins to repent of...Virtues to acquire...
Hell to avoid...Heaven to gain...Eternity to prepare for...Time
to profit by...Neighbors to edify...The world to despise...Devils
to combat...Passions to subdue...Death, perhaps, to suffer...Judgment
to undergo.
-St. Augustine of Hippo

Just as the sun's rising seems brightest and most beautiful when
the night has been long and gloomy, so does God's grace appear most
radiant when viewed against the grim darkness of my heart's sinfulness.
-Paul Settle

Sanctification, in its place and proportion, is quite as important
as justification.
-J. C. Ryle

Bethlehem and Golgotha, the Manger and the Cross, the birth and
death, must always be seen together.
-J. Sidlow Baxter

At Calvary we see what sin deserves and what God requires. Calvary
was too terrible to be optional, the suffering involved too enormous
to be unnecessary, and the Sufferer too precious to His Father to
have been given over needlessly to such pain.
-Peter Lewis

Not until we have become humble and teachable, standing in awe of
God's holiness and sovereignty...acknowledging our own littleness,
distrusting our own thoughts, and willing to have our minds turned
upside down, can divine wisdom become ours.
-J. I. Packer

God wants worshippers before workers; indeed, the only acceptable
workers are those who have learned the art of worship.
-A. W. Tozer

Read and meditate on these scriptures:

Proverbs 2:6-9 "For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of His mouth cometh
knowledge and understanding. He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous:
He is a buckler to them that walk uprightly. He keepeth the paths of
judgment, and preserveth the way of His saints. Then shalt thou understand
righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path."

Proverbs 1:5 "A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man
of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels."

Proverbs 3:13-18 "Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that
getteth understanding. For the merchandise of it is better than the
merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold. She is more
precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be
compared unto her. Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left
hand riches and honour. Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her
paths are peace. She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and
happy is every one that retaineth her."

Proverbs 2:1-5 "My son, if thou wilt receive My words, and hide My
commandments with thee; So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and
apply thine heart to understanding; Yea, if thou criest after knowledge,
and liftest up thy voice for understanding; If thou seekest her as silver,
and searchest for her as for hid treasures; Then shalt thou understand the
fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God."

All of these scriptures can be found in the King James Version Bible.
