We are to always keep in mind that it is God who gives us the strength and
ability to gain wealth. We should never have the attitude of pride and
arrogance and foolishly think that it is in our own ability that we are
able to attain wealth and prosperity. The Bible declares in Deuteronomy
8:18 "But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is He that giveth
thee power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He sware
unto thy fathers, as it is this day." It is the Lord who sustains us and
not we ourselves and our attitude needs to reflect that every blessing that
we possess comes from God above. (Psalm 144:1-4) (1 Chronicles 29:11-15)
Never believe the lie of the enemy that you are self-sufficient and able to
rely on your own ability to prosper. It is the Lord who blesses and wishes
for your Joy to be full as we read in 3 John 2 "Beloved, I wish above all
things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth."
I hope you are inspired and challenged by today's message to see that God
is the one who blesses, inspires and strengthens us to do and accomplish
great things. He alone deserves the credit and the glory for every good
and perfect gift that is bestowed upon us.
IT IS GOD WHO GIVETH THESE
Years ago a young man knelt with his pastor and prayed as he committed to
God his tithe. His first week's pay was $10.00 and the tithe was $1.00. As
he grew older he became more prosperous and his tithe was $7.00 a week,
then $10.00. He moved to another city and soon his tithe was $100 a week,
then $200, then $500.
One day the younger man sent his old friend a wire, "Please come see me."
The pastor arrived at the man's lavish house. They had a good time talking
over old times. Finally the man came to his point. "You remember that
promise I made years ago to tithe. How can I get released?"
"Why would you want to get released," asked the pastor?
"It's like this," replied the man, "When I made the promise I only had to
give $1.00, but now it is $500. I can't afford to give away money like that."
The old pastor looked at his friend. "I am afraid we cannot get released
from the promise, but there is something we can do. We can kneel and ask
God to shrink your income so you can afford to give $1.00 again."

We must always remember that it is God who blesses and in return requires
us to give back to Him the first tenth. The Bible declares in Malachi 3:10
"Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in
mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will
not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there
shall not be room enough to receive it." We should always be quick to
tithe and give to God what belongs to Him and be obedient to His Word.
Because we do, God says He will pour out His blessing, where we will not
have room enough to receive it. (Luke 6:38) (Numbers 23:19) (Mark 4:8)
Read and meditate on these scriptures:
Luke 6:38 Jesus declares "Give, and it shall be given unto you; good
measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men
give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it
shall be measured to you again."
James 1:16-18 "Do not err, my beloved brethren. Every good gift and every
perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with
whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. Of His own will begat
He us with the Word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of
His creatures."
Psalm 18:30-33 "As for God, His way is perfect: the word of the LORD is
tried: He is a buckler to all those that trust in Him. For who is God save
the LORD? or who is a rock save our God? It is God that girdeth me with
strength, and maketh my way perfect. He maketh my feet like hinds' feet,
and setteth me upon my high places."
Psalm 126:5-6 "They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. He that goeth
forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with
rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him."
