486th -- A Call In The Night

No matter how hard the enemy may be fighting us, we are to stand strong and
show our confidence in the Lord's ability to strengthen us and meet our
needs. We are not to focus on the obstacle that is ahead of us, but rather
we are to focus on the God who created heaven and earth and know that with
Him All Is Well. The Bible declares in Psalm 10:17 “Lord, Thou hast heard
the desire of the humble: Thou wilt prepare their heart, Thou wilt cause
Thine ear to hear.” No matter what we go through in life, the answer to
our problem can be found by spending time alone with the Lord sharing with
Him all that is on our heart and receiving from Him the confidence to
continue on boldly knowing the answer is on its way. (1 Peter 5:8-11)

Be encouraged to focus more on the God who loves you rather than on the
trials and tribulations that try to bring down your spirits. You will soon
find the power that comes with giving praise and thanksgiving to the Lord
who loves you and calls you His child. (Isaiah 26:3-4) (Jeremiah 31:3)

I hope today’s message encourages your heart to trust the Lord in all areas
of your life and know that He will meet your needs.

A CALL IN THE NIGHT

“Mommy, Mommy,” my daughter called out in the middle of the night when she
was 4. “I'm scared. Come quick!”

I stumbled down the hall to her room, muffling a yawn. “It's that awful
dream again. A monster's in my closet!” she said trembling.

“There's no monster in here,” I said, checking her closet as I had done
every night for the past week.

“I'm afraid in the dark,” she said.

“When I'm afraid, I pray to God, and He always takes care of me,” I said.
“Just tell God how frightened you are, and He'll take care of you too, OK?”

“OK, Mommy.”

The next night, I woke up again. The house was quiet; my daughter wasn't
crying--so why was I awake? I got out of bed, tiptoed down the hall, and
paused at the door to her room.

“Are you awake, honey?” I asked softly.

“Yes, Mommy,” she said. “My prayer worked. I had that dream again, but I
didn't yell for you. I asked God to bring you to me. And He did!”

As I hugged her close, I thought about God answering prayers in mysterious
ways. All we had to do was ask, and, just as He had brought me to my
daughter in the middle of the night, He would find a way to take care of
all the ‘monsters’ in our lives.

Read and meditate on these scriptures:

2 Timothy 1:6-7 “Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the
gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands. For God hath
not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”

Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto
thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall
direct thy paths.”

Isaiah 26:3-4 “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on
Thee: because he trusteth in Thee. Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in
the LORD JEHOVAH is Everlasting Strength.”

Ephesians 6:10-12 “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the
power of His might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to
stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and
blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of
the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

All of these scriptures can be found in the King James Version Bible.
