The Lord who created us commands that we rejoice in this day that God has
made and enjoy the beauties that He has made available to us. We should
never go through life dreading our days murmuring and complaining about
every little thing that comes our way. Instead, our attitude should
reflect our gratefulness for being alive and our thankfulness for every
gift and blessing that God has bestowed upon our lives. If we really think
about it, we will realize that the attitude we portray about our life is
really up to us. (Philippians 2:14) (Colossians 3:13-17) (Psalm 34:1)
We can either choose to be happy and upbeat ready to start each new day
afresh or we can choose to be negative; complaining and murmuring about the
obstacles in our path. The decision is ours to make, but God wishes for us
to bless the Lord at all times and let His praise continually be in our
mouth. The Bible declares in Psalm 118:24 “This is the day which the LORD
hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” Be encouraged to see the
good in your life and focus on it when giving thanks and praise to the Lord.
I hope this message encourages your heart to rejoice more and complain
less. You will soon find that having a positive attitude not only changes
the way you look at life, but will also change the way others look at you.
DAY ONE OR DAY TWO
I had two very different days recently. The first one was really rough. My
body hurt and ached. I felt grouchy and irritable. My pets seemed to be
constantly underfoot. My kids were arguing a lot. Everyone I met on the
street looked sullen and unfriendly. The sunshine outside even hurt my
eyes. The day was so full of stress and worry that I couldn’t even sleep
that night.
The second day was wonderful. My body felt energized and healthy. I was
laughing and smiling the whole day long. My pets were lovable and
affectionate. My children warmed my heart with their kind words and tender
hugs. Everyone I saw outside seemed to have a smile and a happy wave to
share. The sun peeking through the clouds made my soul light up as well.
The day’s problems were handled easily with humor and joy and I slept like
a baby that night.
In truth, however, the only real difference between those two days was me.
It was me who made the first day so rotten and it was me who made the
second day so glorious. It was me who just idled through the first day
grumbling about the world. And it was me who spent the second day thanking
God for my life, sharing my love with everyone I could, and giving my joy
to the world. I am glad that God forgives me for all the day ones I have
had in my life. Thankfully, they are becoming fewer and fewer as time goes
on. I am so delighted too that God has given me so many day twos to enjoy
and share with others. I hope as well to make every single day I have left
in this world a day two kind of day.
What kind of day do you want to live today? What kind of day do you want to
live for the rest of your life? Each day here is a glorious gift from God.
It is up to us, however, to “rejoice and be glad in it.” Don’t just idle
through your days when you can really live them. Don’t just exist in a day
one when you can love, laugh, sing, dance, pray, enjoy, and delight in a
day two.

Read and meditate on these scriptures:
Romans 12:1-2 “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God,
that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God,
which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but
be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is
that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
Psalm 103:10-12 “He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us
according to our iniquities. For as the heaven is high above the earth, so
great is His mercy toward them that fear Him. As far as the east is from
the west, so far hath He removed our transgressions from us.”
1 Timothy 6:6-8 “But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we
brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing
out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.”
Psalm 16:8-11 “I have set the LORD always before me: because He is at my
right hand, I shall not be moved. Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory
rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope. For Thou wilt not leave my
soul in hell; neither wilt Thou suffer Thine Holy One to see corruption.
Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in Thy presence is fulness of Joy; at
Thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.”
Proverbs 17:22 “A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken
spirit drieth the bones.”
