No matter how discouraged or disheartened you may sometimes feel, you
should be quick to remember how blessed you truly are. If you have ears to
hear and eyes to see, you have much to be thankful for. If you are able to
walk on your feet and eat with your hands, you have much to be thankful
for. You would not realize how blessed you truly are until you lose one of
these abilities. We do not need the greatest of houses or the most luxury
of cars to be blessed. Simply being alive in this day to see the beauty of
God's creation and hear the wonders that surround us should cause us to get
on our knees and be thankful for all that we have received from the Lord
above. Realize that you are blessed today. (Psalm 16:5-11) (1 Timothy 6:6-12)
Encourage yourself and know that God is with you and has not left your
side. See that you have much to be thankful for. Do not allow the enemy
to steal your joy or make you think that life is not worth living. God has
you here with a purpose in mind. Be thankful. Do not murmur. Enjoy this
day as best as you can and be quick to give God thanks. (Nehemiah 8:10)
I hope this simple message speaks greatly to your heart to see that you
have much to be thankful for. Even in the times of testing, look for your
blessings and let God know that you are thankful for each and every gift in
your life.
THE BLIND MAN
One day, there was a blind man sitting on the steps of a building with a
sign by his feet that read: “I am blind, please help.”
A creative publicist was walking by the blind man and stopped to observe
that the man only had a few coins in his hat. He put a few of his own coins
in the hat, and without stopping to ask for permission, took the sign,
turned it around, and wrote a new message. He then placed the sign by the
feet of the blind man, and left.
Later that afternoon the creative publicist returned by the blind man and
noticed that his hat was almost completely full of bills and coins. The
blind man recognized his footsteps and asked if it was him who had changed
his sign? He also wanted to know what the man wrote on it.
The publicist replied: “I just changed your message so people could relate
to it.” He wished the man well, said goodbye, and went on his way.
The blind man didn't know it, but his new sign now read:
“Today Is Spring and I Cannot See It.”

Be encouraged and see that you have much to be thankful for. Do not allow
the stresses of life to get you down, but rather change your attitude and
see the good that is in your life. Think of the positives and meditate
more on them and you'll soon find your troubles do not come close in comparison.
Read and meditate on these scriptures:
Hebrews 13:5-6 “Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be
content with such things as ye have: for He hath said, I will never leave
thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper,
and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.”
James 4:13-14 “Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into
such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:
Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It
is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.”
Psalm 37:16-19 “A little that a righteous man hath is better than the
riches of many wicked. For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: but the
LORD upholdeth the righteous. The LORD knoweth the days of the upright:
and their inheritance shall be for ever. They shall not be ashamed in the
evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.”
Psalm 16:5-9 “The LORD is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup:
thou maintainest my lot. The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places;
yea, I have a goodly heritage. I will bless the LORD, who hath given me
counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night seasons. I have set the
LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be
moved. Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also
shall rest in hope.”
