720th -- The Fern and The Bamboo

We should never find it surprising when trials and tribulations come our
way. The Lord brings these blessings our way because He knows that they
are necessary in order for our character to be shaped and for our resolve
to be strengthened. The Lord never gives us a challenge without first
equipping us with the strength to meet and overcome the challenge. The
discouragement comes in when we do not recognize that we are already
equipped to handle every trial, problem and hardship that comes our way.

The Lord is faithful to us even though we may not always recognize His
faithfulness. You must realize that the Holy Spirit who lives within your
heart has already made provision for you. Never allow yourself to sulk,
murmur or complain when hardships are in your path, but rather stand up
confidently knowing that you have been strengthened by God above to meet,
exceed and overcome every trial, hardship or discouraging situation that
comes near to you. Give God praise for loving you so much. (Job 23:10-12)

I hope this message encourages and inspires your heart to never give up and
never give in. Encourage yourself in God’s love and know that you are a
Mighty Warrior through Christ who gives you strength.

THE FERN AND THE BAMBOO

One day I decided to quit...I quit my job, my relationship, my
spirituality...I wanted to quit my life. I went to the woods to have one
last talk with God.

“God”, I said. “Can you give me one good reason not to quit?”

His answer surprised me.

“Look around”, He said. “Do you see the fern and the bamboo?”

“Yes”, I replied.

“When I planted the fern and the bamboo seeds, I took very good care of
them. I gave them light. I gave them water. The fern quickly grew from the
earth. Its brilliant green covered the floor. Yet nothing came from the
bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo.”

“In the second year the fern grew more vibrant and plentiful. And again,
nothing came from the bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo.”

“In year three there was still nothing from the bamboo seed. But I would
not quit. The same in year four.”

“Then in the fifth year, a tiny sprout emerged from the earth.”

“Compared to the fern, it was seemingly small and insignificant.”

“But just six months later, the bamboo rose to over 100 feet tall.”

“It had spent the five years growing roots. Those roots made it strong and
gave it what it needed to survive. I would not give any of my creations a
challenge it could not handle.”

“Did you know, my child, that all this time you have been struggling, you
have actually been growing roots? I would not quit on the bamboo. I will
never quit on you.”

“Don't compare yourself to others.” He said. “The bamboo had a different
purpose than the fern. Yet they both make the forest beautiful.”

“Your time will come”, God said to me. “You will rise high”

“How high should I rise?” I asked.

“How high will the bamboo rise?” He asked in return.

“As high as it can?” I questioned.

“Yes.” He said, “Give me glory by rising as high as you can.”

I left the forest, realizing that God will never give up on me. And He will
never give up on you.

Never regret a day in your life.

Good days give you happiness; bad days give you experiences; both are
essential to life.

Read and meditate on these scriptures:

Philippians 4:6-7 “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and
supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your
hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

Colossians 3:15-16 “And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the
which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. Let the word of
Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one
another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your
hearts to the Lord.”

James 1:2-5 “My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers
temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire,
wanting nothing. If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that
giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”

Psalm 37:23-26 “The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and He
delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down:
for the LORD upholdeth him with His hand. I have been young, and now am
old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging
bread. He is ever merciful, and lendeth; and his seed is blessed.”

Philippians 1:6 “Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun
a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.”

All of these scriptures can be found in the King James Version Bible.
