We should never put so much emphasis on the physical materials of life that
it impacts our morals, our happiness and our standards of living. We must
remember that money does not buy happiness and that true joy comes from
within oneself. We must remember that our spiritual blessings greatly
outweigh and will outlast any material possessions that seem so important
today. We are to be filled internally with the joy and peace of the Lord
and not base our happiness level by which material possessions we have.
The Lord Jesus tells us in Matthew 6:19-21, “Lay not up for yourselves
treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves
break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven,
where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break
through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”
We must strive to be spiritually rich because this will be an eternal
blessing for us. Moth and rust will corrupt our physical things, but they
can never corrupt our spiritual gifts and blessings that God has given us.
I hope this message inspires and challenges your heart to never be so
physically minded, but rather focus and strive to achieve the internal and
spiritual blessings that God has for you.
ENJOY THE COFFEE
A group of alumni, highly established in their careers, got together to
visit their old university professor.
Conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life.
Offering his guests coffee, the professor went to the kitchen and returned
with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups - porcelain, plastic,
glass, crystal, some plain looking, some expensive, some exquisite -
telling them to help themselves to the coffee.
After all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the professor said, “If
you noticed, all the nice looking expensive cups were taken up, leaving
behind the plain and cheap ones. While it's normal for you to want only
the best for yourselves, that's the source of your problems and stress.
Be assured that in most cases the cup itself adds no quality to the
coffee, just more expense, and in some cases it even hides what we drink.”
“What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you consciously
went for the best cups...and then began eyeing each other's cups.”
“Now consider this: Life is the coffee. The jobs, the money and the
position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain Life.”
“The type of cup we have does not define nor change the quality of Life we
live. Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the
coffee God has provided us.”

Read and meditate on these scriptures:
Psalm 100:2-5 “Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with
singing. Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and
not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter
into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be
thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the LORD is good; his mercy is
everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.”
Psalm 103:10-14 “He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us
according to our iniquities. For as the heaven is high above the earth, so
great is His mercy toward them that fear Him. As far as the east is from
the west, so far hath He removed our transgressions from us. Like as a
father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear Him. For
He knoweth our frame; He remembereth that we are dust.”
James 1:2-5 “My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers
temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire,
wanting nothing. If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that
giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”
Psalm 103:1-5 “Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless
His holy name. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits:
Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who
redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness
and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy
youth is renewed like the eagle's.”
