We should never go through life wanting only for our own best interest
because living a life for vanity's sake leaves one's soul feeling very
empty and very alone. Instead, we should be purposeful with life having a
goal and plan in mind to use our life as much as we can to make this world
a better and brighter place. When we do all that we can with what we have
been given, we will have truly realized what success means. Doing for
others what they can't do for themselves places them on a better road and
shows all how great it is to be an intercessor in the lives of others.
We are told throughout Scripture to bear one another's burdens, to lend a
helping hand, to give knowing that we will receive in kind and to simply
treat others as we would have them treat us. Some like to call it The
Golden Rule, but I call it the key to success in life. Helping others
become better not only blesses them, but it will also take our own life to
heights we've never reached before. The Lord is faithful to see our good
works and give us a reward that will last eternally. (1 John 4:7-12)
I hope this poem inspires and challenges your heart to want to be a giver
in life. When we take the time to help others, that is when we find what
true joy and happiness is all about.
MAKING THE MOST OF LIFE
If I can throw a single ray of light across the darkened pathway of
another; if I can aid some soul to clearer sight of life and duty, and thus
bless my brother; if I can wipe from any human cheek a tear, I shall not
have lived my life in vain while here.
If I can guide some erring one to truth, inspire within his heart a sense
of duty; if I can plant within my soul of rosy youth a sense of right, a
love of truth and beauty; if I can teach one man that God and heaven are
near, I shall not then have lived in vain while here.
If from my mind I banish doubt and fear, and keep my life attuned to love
and kindness; if I can scatter light and hope and cheer, and help remove
the curse of mental blindness; if I can make more joy, more hope, less
pain, I shall not have lived and loved in vain.
If by life's roadside I can plant a tree, beneath whose shade some wearied
head may rest, though I may never share its beauty, I shall yet be truly
blessed though no one knows my name, nor drops a flower upon my grave, I
shall not have lived in vain while here.

Read and meditate on these scriptures:
1 John 3:17-18 “But whoso hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother
have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth
the love of God in him? My little children, let us not love in word,
neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.”
Colossians 3:23-25 “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord,
and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of
the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. But he that doeth wrong
shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of
persons.”
Luke 6:35-36 Jesus declares “But love ye your enemies, and do good, and
lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye
shall be the children of the Highest: for He is kind unto the unthankful
and to the evil. Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.”
2 Timothy 4:6-8 “For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my
departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my
course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown
of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at
that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love His appearing.”
