It is so important that we live an honest life before the Lord. It is
true that temptations do come from the enemy but God has given us the
power and authority to resist and live a life of integrity. This is a
good story that shows how being honest and resisting temptation will not
only Glorify the name of the Lord, but also draw people closer to Him.
I hope you enjoy this short but meaningful story.
THE FAITHFUL PREACHER
Several years ago a preacher moved to Houston, Texas. Some weeks after he
arrived, he had occasion to ride the bus from his home to the downtown
area. When he sat down, he discovered that the driver had accidentally
given him a quarter too much change.
As he considered what to do, he thought to himself, 'you better give the
quarter back. It would be wrong to keep it'. Then he thought, 'Oh, forget
it, it's only a quarter. Who would worry about this little amount?
Besides, the bus company already gets too much fare; they will never miss
it. Accept it as a gift from God and keep quiet.'
When his stop came, he paused momentarily at the door, then he handed the
quarter to the driver and said, "Here, you gave me too much change."
The driver with a smile, replied, "Aren't you the new preacher in town? I
have been thinking lately about going to worship somewhere. I just wanted
to see what you would do if I gave you too much change."
When my friend stepped off the bus, he literally grabbed the nearest light
pole, and held on, and said, "O God, I almost sold your Son for a
quarter."

We need to remember there is a spiritual war constantly going on that we
can't see. The enemy is always trying to make us do what we know in our
heart of hearts is wrong. I encourage you to stay faithful to the Lord
and always make the right decision no matter how much the enemy makes sin
look good. The Bible declares in 1 Timothy 6:12 "Fight the good fight of
faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast
professed a good profession before many witnesses."
Our lives are the only Bible some people will ever read, so make sure
yours makes the right impact on others.
Read and meditate on these scriptures:
Matthew 5:14-16 Jesus says "Ye are the light of the world. A city that is
set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it
under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that
are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see
your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."
1 Timothy 6:10-11 "For the love of money is the root of all evil: which
while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced
themselves through with many sorrows. But thou, O man of God, flee these
things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience,
meekness."
Matthew 7:12-14 Jesus says "Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that
men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the
prophets. Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad
is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in
thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth
unto life, and few there be that find it."
