We should always make a conscious decision to remember to be thankful for
today. There are many people in this world who have become cynical in
their daily dealings with life and instead of seeing the beauty that
surrounds them, they murmur and complain about all that is wrong. It is
amazing to me how you can have two people looking at the same thing and
you'll hear praise out of one's mouth and complaint out of the other. My
prayer and hope is that we will be a people of praise seeing the good in
humanity and in the world and enjoying the beauty of God's creation that
surrounds us. It is solely in our hands how our days will go. We can
wake up and say “Good morning Lord”, or wake up and say “Oh Lord, its
morning.” The attitude that will dictate our lives direction lies solely
in our hands. (Psalm 118:24) (Psalm 34:1) (Habakkuk 3:17)
While it is the Lord who sustains us, we are the director and shaper of
how our days on the Earth will be spent. My word of encouragement to you
is to enjoy life. Spend time with your loved ones. Spend time in the
outdoors relishing the beauty before you. Replenish and refresh your
spirit by spending time every day reading God's word and allowing its
timeless pages to encourage and inspire you again and again. The Lord has
given us many things to be thankful for, but He leaves it all up to us to
recognize His blessings and partake gleefully in each of them. (Psalm 119:105)
I hope this message encourages and challenges your heart to see the many
things that you have been blessed with. Make it a point to enjoy today and
be thankful that God has kept you alive in this day and time.
FEAST FOR THE SOUL
A few weeks ago I bought an old record player at a yard sale. It felt good
to be able to dig out all my old records again, place the needle down on
them and feel the music flow from the speakers and the memories flow from
my mind. Today I pulled out my old Christmas collection and started to
listen to the carols play. It didn’t bother me a bit either that it was
the middle of Summer. The sound was just as sweet with the flowers blooming
and the fans blowing as it would be if the ground was covered with snow.
Every song from "Joy to the World" to the “Hallelujah Chorus” nourished my
spirit and warmed my heart. It was a true feast for the soul.
Most of us myself included don’t feed our souls nearly enough these days.
Our bodies get all the food they need and then some, but our souls hunger
daily and are ignored. It is so easy to feed them too. The food for them
is everywhere and you can’t overeat. Best of all the meal tastes even
better when you share it with others.
Take the time to nourish your soul then. God loves you and wants you to
join in the feast He has prepared here. Listen to beautiful music and sing
along yourself. Read inspiring works and share your thoughts as well.
Watch children playing in the sun and don’t forget to join in. Help those
in need and thank those who help you too. Take a nature walk, but take the
time to sit still and watch the sunset. Play fetch with a dog until your
arm feels tired, but your heart feels light.
Laugh loud and long even when your face hurts and you have tears in your
eyes. Wake up saying “Good morning God!” and throw in a “Thank you for my
life!” as well. Pray all day long. Pray when things are going bad and when
things are going great. Pray to always grow in love, joy, and oneness with
God because that is what feeding your soul is all about. This world is a
never ending banquet of loving, sharing, giving, and living. Pull up a
chair and enjoy the feast.

Read and meditate on these scriptures:
Psalm 103:1-5 “Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless
His holy name. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits:
Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who
redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness
and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy
youth is renewed like the eagle's.”
2 Timothy 1:7 “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power,
and of love, and of a sound mind.”
Psalm 8:3-6 “When I consider Thy heavens, the work of Thy fingers, the moon
and the stars, which Thou hast ordained; What is man, that Thou art mindful
of him? and the son of man, that Thou visitest him? For Thou hast made him
a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.
Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of Thy hands; Thou hast put
all things under his feet.”
Psalm 46:1-3 “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in
trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and
though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the
waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the
swelling thereof. Selah.”
