871st -- Good Advice From God

It is a great comfort to have the God of the universe by our side ready to
help us when we are in need. There are many people in this world who
foolishly go to psychics, trust in horoscopes and rely on their intellect
to guide their future. What they are failing to see is that the Lord who
created them has said throughout Scripture “Call unto Me and I will answer
thee.” There is no need for us to go to other sources in order to know
what we should do next. The Lord has promised that He would never leave
us nor forsake us. We can go to Him in confidence just as a child is
confident in the wisdom of their parents. To a child, their parents are
the wisest people in the world and if they say it, then it must be so.

As wise as our earthly parents are, our Heavenly Father knows even more.
The Lord who created the Heavens and the Earth, the animals on land and the
creatures in the sea and His greatest creation you and I can go to Him in
faith believing that He will guide our steps towards the best direction; a
direction to give us a future and a hope. Be encouraged to call upon the
Lord when you are in distress. Share with Him all that is on your heart
and know that He loves you and wishes for your ending to be more glorious
than your meager beginnings. (Jeremiah 33:3) (Isaiah 59:1) (Jeremiah 29:11)

I hope this message inspires and challenges your heart to be quick to call
upon the Lord in good times and in bad, to give praise and to seek advice.
The Lord is a loving Father who will never turn you away.

GOOD ADVICE FROM GOD

In my daily walk with God, he tells me lots of stuff. No, a mighty voice
does not boom down from on high and shake the very foundations of my
office with its power. This voice is subtle -- almost imperceptible -- and
I can't hear it unless I'm really listening.

Sometimes the voice comes as a gut feeling -- other times as the solution
to a dilemma. The voice comes to everyone who seeks God's counsel. The
voice of God can even be heard in our trials and tribulations. If you
don't get something that you really want, maybe God's trying to tell you
something. Maybe you'd better listen.

While God's voice reaches the Christian in many different ways, it's
message is always consistent. You can always tell that God is talking to
your heart instead of Satan whispering in your ear. This is because God
never changes. His Word is the same today as it was 4,000 years ago when
the Patriarchs were flourishing. If you have any doubts as to who is
really talking to you, a quick flip of your Bible will provide the answer.
If the message is true with Scripture, then the words are truly from God
and not the devil.

There are times when our own wants and desires get in the way of God's
message. I can't tell you how many times I have started one of my pieces
only to have to stop in the middle because the message I was trying to
write wasn't going anywhere. Why? I simply did not consult with God before
I started writing -- I tried to do it on my own. I asked Him sometime back
to guide my fingers for His glory and He took me literally. Writer's block
and lost time are the penalty I pay for inattention. This has happened
over and over again. I have scraps of paper littering my office to prove it.

If we stop to listen to God, those who ask His counsel -- those who really
want to know -- will receive messages and advice from the Creator. You
don't have to be a prophet. You don't have to be anyone special. Those who
will not listen will hear nothing -- at least, nothing from God. But if
you are hearing God, implement His recommendations with confidence. It
will be the best advice you'll ever get.

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into
practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came
down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house;
yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But
everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice
is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the
streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell
with a great crash.” (Matthew 7:24-27)

Read and meditate on these scriptures:

Psalm 46:10-11 “Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among
the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. The LORD of hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.”

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 “Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus
Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth
us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in
any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.”

Jeremiah 32:17-18 “Ah Lord GOD! behold, Thou hast made the heaven and the
earth by Thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too
hard for Thee: Thou shewest lovingkindness unto thousands, and recompensest
the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their children after them:
the Great, the Mighty God, the LORD of hosts, is His Name.”

Psalm 37:3-6 “Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the
land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the LORD; and
He shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the
LORD; trust also in Him; and He shall bring it to pass. And He shall bring
forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.”

All of these scriptures can be found in the King James Version Bible.
