With the many struggles and hardships that people go through on a daily
basis, we can each do our part to make their burden a little less heavy.
Doing things for others in their time of need shows our care and love for
them and lets them know that good still exists in this world. We don't
have to change the world to make a difference, but when we do one thing
for one person, the world gets to be a little better. Many people believe
the lie that they should only do for themselves and that no one else
matters, but that is not how the Lord wishes for us to act. The Lord Jesus
declares in Matthew 5:41-42 “And whoever compels you to go one mile, go
with him two. Give to him who asks you, and from him who wants to borrow
from you do not turn away.” (Galatians 6:2) (James 1:27) (Luke 6:35-36)
The Lord wishes for us to be charitable, helping, caring and to treat
others as we would want others to treat us. Just as we would have someone
to do for us in our time of need, we should be willing to do for them in
their time of need. Life has a way of turning around and every good deed
that we do will come back to us one day. We may forget about all the good
that we do, but God does not forget. He will repay us in our time of need
because we helped someone else in their time of need. Remember that the
next time you want to walk past someone in need of your help. (Galatians 6:9)
I hope this message inspires and encourages your heart to see that every
deed whether big or small has its place in this world. Whatever we do as
long as it's done with a pure heart will be appreciated and thought upon
far longer than we can ever think or imagine.
YOUR INNER ANGEL
I saw another angel recently. Sometimes it is hard to spot them because
they are so good at disguises. There was no white robe on this one. She
was wearing a faded, flowered, sun dress not suited for the winter weather.
Her coat too was well worn and probably older than my grown up son. She
didn’t have a halo. Her white hair, though, sparkled when the light hit it
and her smile shined with joy. There were no wings to be seen either. She
was walking slowly in her scuffed up shoes while she pushed her shopping
cart through the supermarket.
I knew that she was an angel, however, when at the checkout she divided
her groceries into 3 small piles. She apologized to me for doing so but
explained that she was buying food for two other elderly people who
couldn’t make it out in the bad weather. I just laughed and told her to
take her time. It isn’t everyday that you get to see an angel in action
after all.
My ancient cherub squinted through her thick glasses and counted out the
last of her change to pay for the groceries. Then she picked up her full
bags and started to head out into the cold. She stopped for just a second
though at a collection bin for the local humane society and quietly dropped
in a bag of cat food and a bag of dog food. As I watched her walk into the
swirling snow, I smiled and wondered if she was going to head for a car or
fly up to Heaven.
That elderly angel in disguise reminded me once again to look for the inner
angel in myself. She showed me one more time that doing good and spreading
joy can be as natural here on Earth as it is in Heaven. She let me see that
sharing God’s love is not only easy to do; it is what we are meant to do.
I hope then that all of you take the time today to find the inner angel
inside yourselves. I hope that you let that angel out to bless the world
with your love. And I hope that you always remember that you don’t need
wings to fly.

Read and meditate on these scriptures:
Matthew 25:37-40 Jesus declares, “Then shall the righteous answer Him,
saying, Lord, when saw we Thee an hungred, and fed Thee? or thirsty, and
gave Thee drink? When saw we Thee a stranger, and took Thee in? or naked,
and clothed Thee? Or when saw we Thee sick, or in prison, and came unto
Thee? And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you,
Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye
have done it unto Me.”
1 John 4:7-11 “Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and
every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not
knoweth not God; for God is love. In this was manifested the love of God
toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that
we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that
he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved,
if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.”
Hebrews 13:1-3 “Let brotherly love continue. Be not forgetful to entertain
strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. Remember
them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer
adversity, as being yourselves also in the body.”
John 13:34-35 Jesus declares, “A new commandment I give unto you, That ye
love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By
this shall all men know that ye are My disciples, if ye have love one to
another.”
