There are many instances in life where we are tempted to not care about
what others are going through. We are told that we should only look out
for ourselves and not worry about the plight of others. What we must
realize is that we are all connected in this world. Just as we would hope
for help in our time of need, we should be someone else's hope in their
time of need. The Lord Jesus Christ said if we give a cup of water to
someone in need, it is equivalent to giving it to Him. The blessings and
rewards of our good deeds go not only to those who are receiving from us,
but they will one day also be returned to us by the Lord. What we help to
do for someone else in their time of need, God will help to do for us in
our time of need. (Gal. 6:2) (Mark 9:41) (Matthew 25:40) (2 Corinthians 9:8)
Life is all about sowing and reaping. The things that we sow now whether
good or bad will one day be returned to us. That is the biblical fact.
So let us sow our seeds carefully and thoughtfully knowing that those seeds
will grow and return to us one day to hopefully bless our life for the wise
decisions that were made in times past. (Galatians 6:7-8) (Colossians 3:23-25)
I hope this message inspires and challenges your heart to do good for
others no matter how challenging your life may be right now. We each have
the ability to be a blessing to someone else. Let's take each opportunity
to brighten up the days of those in need around us.
BUILD A BETTER WORLD
How do you build a better world? That is a question that has puzzled
mankind for centuries. Many things have been tried. Some have helped and
some haven’t. I think, though, that I was given a part of the answer just
the other day.
My brother had just cleaned out his closet. It was something I needed to
do as well even though I was afraid I might get lost in there and not find
my way back out. When he brought over some of the extra clothes to my Dad’s
house, he asked me to look through them and see if there was anything I
could use. I ended up just picking out a few pair of short pants to replace
my worn out cut off jeans. I couldn’t see keeping more clothes that I
didn’t need. I volunteered instead to take the rest of them over to the
Goodwill store and donate them for him.
I loaded his clothes in the back of my car and then decided to brave the
clutter of my own closet to add to his donation. It was a scary sight
opening that door. The mess was tremendous. Still, the thought of doing
something good for another spurred me on and kept me going. It took a long
time, but I got it done. I was left with a much emptier closet, but a much
fuller heart. As I carried my own bags of clothes to add to my brothers I
couldn’t help but smile. It was then that I saw how we all can go about
building a better world.
We can do it one kind act at a time. We can do it one gift of charity at a
time. We can do it one shared smile at a time. We can do it one uplifting
word at a time. We can do it one heartfelt hug at a time. We can even do
it one donated shirt at a time. We can build a better world with each act
of love we share and good thing we do. We can do it with helpful hands and
caring hearts. We can do it with cheerful spirits and joyous souls. We can
do it knowing that God and His angels are smiling down upon us and helping
us every step of the way.

Read and meditate on these scriptures:
James 1:22-25 “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving
your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he
is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth
himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man
he was. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth
therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man
shall be blessed in his deed.”
James 3:10-12 “Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My
brethren, these things ought not so to be. Doth a fountain send forth at
the same place sweet water and bitter? Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear
olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt
water and fresh.”
1 Peter 3:8-11 “Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of
another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous: Not rendering evil
for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that
ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing. For he that
will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil,
and his lips that they speak no guile: Let him eschew evil, and do good;
let him seek peace, and ensue it.”
Philippians 2:13-15 “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to
do of His good pleasure. Do all things without murmurings and disputings:
That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in
the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights
in the world.”
