We each have so much to be thankful for, but many times we allow the
temporary trials and setbacks in our life to make us lose focus of our
great abundance. What we should do on a daily basis is bring into
remembrance all that we have that makes us truly rich so that we can see
how blessed and favored we really are. Things that money can't buy such
as our family, our children and our health is what should be thought upon
when times of discouragement try to bring us down. We should focus on the
good things, the happy memories and the things that bring us great joy and
then we will find ourselves remembering our blessings and being thankful
for them.
No matter what we go through and no matter how difficult our current
situation may seem, we still have the ability to give thanks and be
appreciative for our life. As deep as the pit may seem right now, we must
remember that it's still not the end of the story. Tomorrow a new day
will dawn with new promises and new opportunities. We simply must have the
proper attitude and be ready for the blessings that are sure coming our way.
Be encouraged to look past your negative situation and think more on the
gifts that you've been given. What gifts you say? The gifts of your
family, your spouse, your children, your job, your home, your car, your
health, your eyes, your ears, your legs, your hands. Think on how
difficult life would be without any one of these blessings. When we focus
on what we do have, our appreciation for life becomes that much more
evident. Remember to give God thanks for your many blessings and with
your words, acts and deeds let your life be a living testimony that you
are thankful and appreciative for all that you have been given.
I hope this message challenges your heart to see the abundance of blessings
in your life. It is easy to forget how much we have to be thankful for,
but this message brings into perspective how appreciative we should be for
all that we have been given.
I AM THANKFUL..
For the wife who says it's hot dogs tonight, because she is home with me,
and not out with someone else.
For the husband who is on the sofa being a couch potato, because he is home
with me and not out at the bars.
For the teenager who is complaining about doing dishes because it means she
is at home, not on the streets.
For the taxes I pay because it means I am employed.
For the mess to clean after a party because it means I have been surrounded
by friends.
For the clothes that fit a little too snug because it means I have enough
to eat.
For my shadow that watches me work because it means I am out in the sunshine.
For a lawn that needs mowing, windows that need cleaning, and gutters that
need fixing because it means I have a home.
For all the complaining I hear about the government because it means we
have freedom of speech.
For the parking spot I find at the far end of the parking lot because it
means I am capable of walking and I have been blessed with transportation.
For my huge heating bill because it means I am warm.
For the lady behind me in church who sings off key because it means I can
hear.
For the pile of laundry and ironing because it means I have clothes to wear.
For weariness and aching muscles at the end of the day because it means I
have been capable of working hard.
For the alarm that goes off in the early morning hours because it means I
am alive.

Read and meditate on these scriptures:
Psalm 103:2-5 “Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits:
Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems
your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender
mercies, Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is
renewed like the eagle's.”
2 Samuel 22:29-33 “For You are my lamp, O Lord; The Lord shall enlighten
my darkness. For by You I can run against a troop; By my God I can leap
over a wall. As for God, His way is perfect; The word of the Lord is
proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him. For who is God, except
the Lord? And who is a rock, except our God? God is my strength and power,
And He makes my way perfect.”
Philippians 4:4-7 “Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!
Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. Be anxious
for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with
thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God,
which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through
Christ Jesus.”
Psalm 100:1-5 “Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands! Serve the
Lord with gladness; Come before His presence with singing. Know that the
Lord, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are
His people and the sheep of His pasture. Enter into His gates with
thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and
bless His name. For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, And His
truth endures to all generations.”
