We should never see our life as insignificant or less than simply because
we haven't accomplished great things yet. What we should always remember
and keep in mind is that God has instilled great dreams and aspirations
within each of our hearts that are meant to be realized and fulfilled.
The Lord has never created anything without a set purpose behind it. From
the smallest of creatures to His greatest creations; each has a set plan
and purpose behind it. When we believe this truth and know that we are
meant for more, that is when we can begin to see how worthy we are in God's
eyes and how great His love is for us. Many times we want to be used in
extraordinary ways to make a difference that will impact multitudes, but
we don't know how or where to begin. What I have found to be true is to
simply do the work before me with care and excellence. Whatever job I
have at the moment, I should do it as if The President is going to come
and check after me to see how I did. Doing the job before us as though it
is the most important thing is what excels us to greater heights.
Be encouraged to take on the mentality of being excellent in your work.
Whatever your job is, do it to the best of your ability. Whether you are
a homemaker, a teacher, an engineer or a CEO, be excellent in your work.
Do your job with care, with pride and with love and because you do, you
will be rewarded. Doing good brings its own reward in its own way. When
we care about the simple things, the bigger things tend to work themselves
out to our benefit. Believe in yourself and know that you are well able
to be excellent in your work. The job that God has given you is yours to
excel at. Be happy in it, be proud of it and be excellent at it.
I hope this message inspires and challenges your heart to do the work
before you with care, integrity and love. We may not be able to do
everything, but the work before us, we can do with excellence.
GREAT AND NOBLE
Helen Keller said, “I have found that though the ways in which I can make
myself useful are few, yet the work open to me is endless...I long to
accomplish a great and noble task; but it is my chief duty and joy to
accomplish humble tasks as though they were great and noble.”
I always had ambitions of doing great works. In fact, my mom always said,
my kids will be great at whatever they do. In turn, I always believed that
I needed to do something significant. Most of us have probably dreamed of
having our name in print or achieving stardom or arriving as a star
athlete. But, to be honest, the majority of the people are just ordinary
people doing ordinary jobs. The people that stand out are the ones that do
their ordinary jobs with excellence. The difference in ordinary and
extraordinary is just that little extra. It makes all the difference in
the world. There are only a few superstar positions open, but there are
many ordinary positions where we can perform extraordinarily.
The key, as Helen Keller says, is to treat those humble things as though
they were great and noble. When you give them the attention they deserve,
then and only then do you get to do a few great things. The good news is
that you'll be prepared because you did the small things first.
When artists transfer a drawing to a large surface, like a wall, they
often divide the painting into small blocks. Then they paint the blocks
one at a time. I may not be able to paint an entire wall to exact detail,
but I could paint a small block, then another, then another until
eventually I have a huge portrait.
What little thing does God want us to do? No matter how small, we should
treat it with nobility and accomplish it with vigor.

Read and meditate on these scriptures:
2 Timothy 1:6-7 “Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the
gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands. For God hath
not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”
Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto
thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall
direct thy paths.”
Isaiah 26:3-4 “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on
Thee: because he trusteth in Thee. Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in
the LORD JEHOVAH is Everlasting Strength.”
1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 “And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and
I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto
the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is He that calleth you, who
also will do it.”
1 Peter 2:9-10 “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy
nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of Him who
hath called you out of darkness into His marvellous light: Which in time
past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not
obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.”
