There are many people in this world who go about living their life without
giving much attention to their legacy. They don't think about how they
will be remembered. They don’t focus on what they did to help make someone
else's life a little bit better. One thing we must always think about is
our legacy. What did we do with our life that helped someone else excel
in their life? What will we be remembered for long after we are gone?
Will we be remembered for our selfishness or for our selflessness? Will
we be thought about with fondness and talked about with future generations
or will our life's memory quickly pass from their minds? These are
important questions that we should ask ourselves so that we can evaluate
how useful our life really is. It will not matter how big our bank account
is when we die or how many accomplishments we were able to attain. What
will matter is what we did to help our family and friends reach higher,
become better and show them that they can excel in any area that they are
lacking. When we make our life one of service everyone will benefit. We
will be blessed for having the opportunity to bless others and the
recipient will be blessed because they were able to become better than
they were before.
We must always remember and keep in mind that those who receive our help
will remember it far longer than we ever will. Never believe the lie that
you should only want for yourself and for your own well-being. Looking
out for others is what catapults our life to greater heights. When we
help others excel, our life is made richer. When we offer forgiveness,
encouragement and inspiration, their life is lifted up and shown that a
new beginning is possible no matter their past mistakes or shortfalls. We
are rekindling the flame in their spirit and showing them by our example
that it's never the end of the story until you have exhaled your last
breath. Be encouraged to leave a lasting legacy of love, forgiveness,
encouragement, inspiration and motivation. Make it a goal to leave a
blessed legacy. Leave footprints that no one else can forget so that when
you are thought upon, a lasting smile will be upon the faces of those whom
you were blessed enough to touch.
I hope this message inspires and challenges your heart to think on your
legacy. What will you be remembered for? How will others talk about your
life and how it was spent? Let it be one that you would be proud of.
FOREVER CONNECTED
When she was in her eighties a lifetime of health problems finally caught
up with my Grandmother and forced her into a nursing home. It was a
difficult time for us all. I had grown up in her home as a child and lived
just across the road from her as an adult. It was hard seeing her losing
weight and confined to a wheelchair. Still, we adjusted. My children and I
would load up the car every Saturday for the 25 mile trip to visit her.
She always had a tender hug and loving kiss waiting for us. The nurses
there fell in love with her too. Her loving but feisty spirit touched them
all. She made them laugh and smile and sometimes even taught them a few
choice words of Italian that they didn’t need to know. I can remember the
whole family gathering to celebrate her 90th birthday in that nursing home
cafeteria. The entire room was filled with love.
In the last few years of her life, however, my Grandma’s mind started to
fail her as well. Sometimes she would know us when we visited her and
sometimes she would not. As she got worse and worse I would often just sit
with her and hold her hand. Words were no longer needed. Her body may have
given out and her memory may have left her, but in those moments I felt
connected to her soul. I knew that her spirit would soon pass from this
world, but I also knew that the love we had shared would live on in my
heart always.
Even now years after her death I still feel that connection. I still feel
that love. It reminds me everyday that we are all one family in this
world. We are all Children of God. We are all here to love each other, to
help each other, and to grow in oneness with each other. We are here to
build bridges to each other’s hearts and to find connections to each
other’s souls. Don’t be afraid to love others then. Don’t be afraid to
share your life with them. Yes, you may suffer pain and even loss. But as
my Grandma taught me so well, the love you share will live on forever.

Read and meditate on these scriptures:
Colossians 3:23-25 “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord,
and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of
the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. But he that doeth wrong
shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of
persons.”
Luke 6:35-36 Jesus declares “But love ye your enemies, and do good, and
lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye
shall be the children of the Highest: for He is kind unto the unthankful
and to the evil. Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.”
Galatians 6:2-4 “Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of
Christ. For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he
deceiveth himself. But let every man prove his own work, and then shall
he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another.”
Romans 15:1-4 “We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the
weak, and not to please ourselves. Let every one of us please his neighbour
for his good to edification. For even Christ pleased not Himself; but, as
it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on Me. For
whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning,
that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.”
All of these scriptures can be found in the King James Version Bible.
