1499th -- Message On Confidence In God

If each of us realized how powerful we are through God we would never become discouraged, stagnant or believe the lie that we were not meant for greatness. A story from the Bible that I think of often tells the story of the Prophet Elisha and his servant. The King of Syria had sent a great Army with horses and chariots to seize Elisha because Elisha was telling the King of Israel all of the secrets of the King of Syria and he wanted to put an end to it. When the army surrounded the city that Elisha and his servant were living in, the servant became very scared and crying out to his master Elisha he said “Alas, my master! What shall we do?” The way Elisha answered his servant is the way God answers us when we become fearful of the trials and troubles that surround our life. Elisha said in 2 Kings 6:16-17 “Do not be afraid, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” Then Elisha prayed and said, “O Lord, please open his eyes that he may see.” So the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. (Jeremiah 1:4-9) (Isaiah 65:24)

When we stay in faith and have confidence that God is our deliverer we won’t become fearful when the enemy surrounds our city with his army of horses and chariots because we will already have the foreknowledge that those who are with us are more than those that are with them. When Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were bound and thrown into the fiery furnace because they refused to bow down to King Nebuchadnezzar’s idol, they had confidence that God would be with them in the midst of the fire, and He was. The Lord does not forsake those who walk uprightly before Him, but He delivers them to show His precious child and the witnesses all around how powerful and trustworthy the Lord really is. We don’t need to worry about anything because God already has the answers. Our tomorrows are held securely in the palms of His Hands and our job is only to trust and believe that in the end all will be well with us. (Daniel 3:8-27) (Isaiah 65:24)

When Moses wanted to encourage Joshua to have confidence in God, Moses said in Deuteronomy 31:8 “And the LORD, He it is that doth go before thee; He will be with thee, He will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.” Moses wanted Joshua to face his enemies with confidence knowing that God will be with him, to protect him, to deliver him and to give Joshua the victory not because Joshua was able, but because God was able through Joshua. When we have confidence that the outcome of our trials are in our favor we will be quick to face every trial and challenge with the assurance that all will be well with us in the end. We just have to remember and keep in mind that God is able to deliver us, set us free and make our simple life extraordinary in ways that we can’t even think or imagine for ourselves. We just have to believe and when we believe the Bible says all things are possible. (Philippians 1:6) (Romans 8:28)

What has always encouraged my heart is that this life no matter how good or no matter how bad it may seem at any particular moment is not our final destination. This life is just a precursor of the new life to come. I find comfort and encouragement in the scripture that declares in 1 Corinthians 2:9 “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him.” Our final destination is Heaven and we will partake in the blessings, the joy and the love that is offered to every human being that is alive on this earth right now. That place called Heaven is the place where troubles cease, where worry does not exist and where joy and gladness will surround us for all eternity. While we are promised the victory in this life, let us also look forward to our eternal life with the God who created us, loves us and calls us His precious child. (John 14:1-3) (Galatians 4:1-7) (Romans 8:10-16)

Read and meditate on these scriptures:

Psalm 138:6-8 “Though the LORD be high, yet hath He respect unto the lowly: but the proud He knoweth afar off. Though I walk in the midst of trouble, Thou wilt revive me: Thou shalt stretch forth Thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and Thy right hand shall save me. The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me: Thy mercy, O LORD, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of Thine own hands.”

Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.”

Psalm 20:6-9 “Now know I that the LORD saveth His anointed; He will hear him from His Holy Heaven with the saving strength of His right hand. Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God. They are brought down and fallen: but we are risen, and stand upright. Save, LORD: let the king hear us when we call.”

Proverbs 8:17-21 “I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me. Riches and honour are with me; yea, durable riches and righteousness. My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice silver. I lead in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment: That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasures.”

1 Chronicles 28:9-10 “And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve Him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek Him, He will be found of thee; but if thou forsake Him, He will cast thee off for ever. Take heed now; for the LORD hath chosen thee to build an house for the sanctuary: be strong, and do it.”

All of these scriptures can be found in the King James Version Bible.
