204th -- Variety Of Stories

I have been working on the Godswork Website and have added many
new stories, poems and testimonies. We now have over 1100 pages
available for you to read and be encouraged and inspired from. It is my
greatest privilege to add all of these different messages in one place so
that people from around the world may receive the encouragement they are
meant to bring forth. If you have not visited our website recently, I
encourage you to do so. Click here to visit: http://www.Godswork.org

As I was looking for a story for today's message, I came upon a few very
good short stories that I thought you would benefit from. I will add these
short stories for today's message and hope that you are encouraged and
inspired by them.

DON'T WAKE HIM UP

A man was giving his testimony at one of those old Salvation Army open air
street meetings.

As he was testifying, a heckler in the crowd yelled, "Why don't you shut
up and sit down? You're just dreaming."

Immediately that heckler felt a tug on his coat. He looked down to see a
little girl, who said. "Sir, may I speak to you? That man who is talking
up there is my daddy. Daddy used to be a drunkard. He used to spend all of
the money he made on whiskey. My mother was very sad and would cry most of
the time. Sometimes when my daddy came home, he would hit my mother. I
didn't have shoes or a nice dress to wear to school. But look at my shoes.
And see this pretty dress? My daddy bought these for me."

But the little girl wasn't through with that heckler yet. "See my mother
over there? She's the one with the bright smile on her face. She's happy
now. She sings even when she's doing the ironing."

Then the little girl said, "Mister, if my daddy is dreaming, please don't
wake him up."

VERY MUCH ALIVE

The story is told of a young man who went into a taxidermist's shop. He was
noticing all of the dead, but life-like animals on display. He stopped in
front of an owl and began criticizing the shopkeeper's work, pointing out
"mistakes" in the owl's wings, legs, and angle of the head. In his pride
he boasted that he could have done a better job himself.

Suddenly, the owl turned his head and blinked. The prideful young man had
mistakenly imagined the owl to be just another dead stuffed animal, but to
his shame found himself to be the fool.

Many mistakenly imagine the Word of God to be just another piece of dead
literature, or the Gospel a poor work of men's hands. Nevertheless, it is
alive, truly the work of God's hands!

TAKING SIDES

A little guy was confronted by three bullies, any one of whom could have
obliterated him and they were giving some evidence that they had that plan
in mind.

The little guy was very bright, so he backed away from the three bullies,
drew a line in the dirt, backed up a few more steps, looked into the eyes
of the biggest of the three, and said, "Now, you just step across that line."

Confidently, the big bully did exactly that, and the little guy just
grinned and said, "Now we're both on the same side."

DON'T FORGET WHAT REALLY MATTERS

Carl Coleman was driving to work one morning when he bumped fenders with
another motorist.

Both cars stopped, and a woman driving the other car got out to survey the
damage.

She was distraught. It was her fault, she admitted, and hers was a new
car, less than two days from the showroom. She dreaded facing her husband.

Coleman was sympathetic; but he had to pursue the exchange of license and
registration data.

She reached into her glove compartment to retrieve the documents in an
envelope.

On the first paper to tumble out, written in her husband's distinctive
hand, were these words: "In case of accident, remember, honey, it's you I
love, not the car."

By Paul Harvey

Read and meditate on these scriptures:

2 Corinthians 5:17-19 "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new
creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to Himself by Jesus
Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that
God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto Himself, not imputing their
trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation."

Hebrews 4:12-14 "For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper
than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and
spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts
and intents of the heart. Neither is there any creature that is not
manifest in His sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes
of Him with whom we have to do. Seeing then that we have a Great High
Priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold
fast our profession."

1 John 4:7-11 "Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and
every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not
knoweth not God; for God is love. In this was manifested the love of God
toward us, because that God sent His only begotten Son into the world, that
we might live through Him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that
He loved us, and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved,
if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another."

Psalm 67:1-7 "God be merciful unto us, and bless us; and cause His face to
shine upon us; Selah. That Thy way may be known upon earth, Thy saving
health among all nations. Let the people praise Thee, O God; let all the
people praise Thee. O let the nations be glad and sing for joy: for Thou
shalt judge the people righteously, and govern the nations upon earth.
Selah. Let the people praise Thee, O God; let all the people praise Thee.
Then shall the earth yield her increase; and God, even our own God, shall
bless us. God shall bless us; and all the ends of the earth shall fear him."

All scriptures can be found in the King James Version.
