208th -- Stay On Course

The Lord has spoken to my heart to write a message concerning staying
focused on the goals that God has placed in each of our hearts. With the
troubles that many people are going through these days, they have made it
almost routine to give up right away when adversities come instead of
staying focused and determined in reaching their goals. I believe the Lord
laid this message upon my heart because He wants His children to reexamine
themselves and renew their minds to continue on and not lose focus of the
goals that are before each of us. (James 1:5-8) (James 1:21-24)

We know the devil is a liar and in the end God triumphs in Victory over
satan, but right now many Bible believing Christians are living in defeat
because they give in to the temptations of the enemy and lose focus of the
goal that God has placed in their hearts. In this race of life, we are to
be like the horses that are in a great race who have blinders on their eyes
so that distractions will have no place in the race that they are in. When
we stay determined and steadfast in reaching our goals, the reward will be
much greater than any temptation the enemy tried to bring into our life.

This is a good story that shows how we sometimes lose focus and take our
eyes off the goal because of some temporary temptation the enemy has
brought before us. I hope today's message ministers to your heart to renew
your mind with the Word of God and reignite the fire of zeal within you to
reach the goals that God has placed in your heart. (Romans 12:1-3)

STAY ON COURSE

You've been planning for the perfect vacation for six months, and now the
day is finally here. The tickets are in your pocket, your bags are packed,
and you're driving to the airport. On the way, you pass a favorite
restaurant and think about how much you like their food. You turn the car
around, go back to the restaurant, walk in, sit down and enjoy a delicious
meal. The only trouble is, by the time you finish eating, you've missed
your flight and you don't get to take that vacation of a lifetime.

Would this ever happen? Of course not. When you're on your way to something
you've been working for, planning, and anxiously awaiting, you'd never let
a petty distraction throw you off track. Or would you?

Unfortunately, it happens every day. Too often, we let the distractions of
the moment deny us our most treasured goals. The next time you're tempted
by a distraction, keep in mind where you're already headed and how very
much you desire to get there.

Ask yourself if you would prefer to have the distraction or the goal you've
set for yourself. Rather than hopping from one empty distraction to
another, focus your effort and attention toward those things which will
bring true and lasting fulfillment.

By Ralph Marston

If you are finding distractions an all too common experience, that means
the enemy has been successful in finding the areas of your life that are
easily able to be infiltrated. We must wake-up and realize that we have a
real enemy that is trying to destroy all of our hopes and dreams by
bringing temptations into our life that he has used throughout history. The
devil does not have any new tricks, but he does recycle his deception by
making his temptations arrive very slowly and subtly. It is important that
we rededicate our lives with a fresh fervor to the Lord's will and seek
only to please God and not our own fleshly desires.
(John 8:44) (John 10:10) (Romans 8:10-16)

This message is not one of condemnation, but rather one of encouragement.
If you have fallen away and allowed the tricks of the enemy to throw your
life off-track, I have good news because the Lord is able cleanse you from
all your sins and place your life back on the best road that God has for
you. I want you to know and always keep in mind that you have a purpose
on this earth. God has a divine will for your life that only you are able
to fulfill. If you have fallen away, I encourage you to call upon the
name of the Lord and ask God to renew and refresh your life so that it may
be useful for His purposes. God is faithful and just to cleanse us from
all unrighteousness and create in us a new heart, but there's only one
thing holding that back, we must ask for it.
(Isaiah 55:6-7) (1 John 1:9) (Ezekiel 36:26-27)

Read and meditate on these scriptures:

Philippians 3:13-14 "Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but
this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching
forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the
prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus."

Hebrews 12:1-3 "Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great
a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth
so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set
before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who
for the Joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame,
and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider Him
that endured such contradiction of sinners against Himself, lest ye be
wearied and faint in your minds."

2 Timothy 4:4-8 "And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and
shall be turned unto fables. But watch thou in all things, endure
afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.
For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the
faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which
the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me
only, but unto all them also that love His appearing."

1 Corinthians 2:9 "But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard,
neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath
prepared for them that love Him."
