285th -- The Death Of Someone Else

With the short time that we have on this earth, we are to keep our minds
on the Lord and remember to keep His work #1 in our lives. There are many
moments in life where an opportunity arises for us to minister to others
in need and we fail to do so. It is important that we remember that each
person that has been cleansed with the blood of Jesus Christ is now called
a king and priest. In God's eyes, we don't need degrees and titles in
order to preach His Word and be an example of God's love and forgiveness.
Everything we need has already been supplied by the Lord above, but we must
make up our minds and move forward with steadfast determination to be
helpers and ministers of His Word. (Revelation 1:5-6) (Galatians 6:9-10)

If you have been letting opportunities to be used of God to pass you by, I
hope you'll be inspired and challenged by today's message.

THE DEATH OF SOMEONE ELSE

Our church was saddened to learn this week of the death of one of our most
valued members, Someone Else.

"Someone's" passing creates a vacancy that will be difficult to fill. Else
has been with us for many years and for every one of those years, "Someone"
did far more than a normal person's share of the work. Whenever there was
a job to do, a class to teach, or a meeting to attend, one name was on
everyone's list, "Let 'Someone Else' do it."

Whenever leadership was mentioned, this wonderful person was looked to for
inspiration as well as results; "Someone Else can work with that group."
It was common knowledge that Someone Else was among the most liberal givers
in our church. Whenever there was a financial need, everyone just assumed
Someone Else would make up the difference.

Someone Else was a wonderful person; sometimes appearing superhuman. Were
the truth known, everybody expected too much of Someone Else. Now Someone
Else is gone!

We wonder what we are going to do. Someone Else left a wonderful example
to follow, but who is going to follow it?

Who is going to do the things Someone Else did?

When you are asked to help this year, remember -- we can't depend on
Someone Else anymore.

I encourage you to accept the opportunities to intercede that come before
you. Don't allow the blessing of doing God's work to pass you by. It is
indeed a great privilege for God to use us as His tools to minister to
others because the blessings are promised to be twofold. God will use our
intercession to minister and bless that one in need and in return the Lord
promises to reward our good works in this life and the new life to come.
(Romans 10:14-15) (Romans 1:5) (Mark 10:29-31)

Be encouraged to do the work of the Lord with your whole heart because the
benefits will greatly outweigh what He asks of us. If you feel the Lord
tugging on your heart to move in a certain direction, I encourage you to
seek Him in prayer and make yourself available to follow God's will. The
Lord knows the path that we should take, but it is our decision to accept
and follow. (Isaiah 6:8) (Jeremiah 33:3) (Isaiah 30:21)

Remember, Someone Else is no longer available. The job now belongs to us.

Read and meditate on these scriptures:

Matthew 19:29-30 Jesus declares,
"And every one that hath forsaken houses,
or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or
lands, for My name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit
everlasting life. But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall
be first."

1 Peter 5:5-7 "Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea,
all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God
resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. Humble yourselves
therefore under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time:
Casting all your care upon Him; for He careth for you."

Luke 6:38 Jesus declares,
"Give, and it shall be given unto you; good
measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men
give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it
shall be measured to you again."

All scriptures can be found in the King James Version Bible.
