451st -- The Grumble Family

We should never allow the pessimism of others to keep us from reaching the
heights of victory that God wishes for us to stand upon. Many times we
come into contact with people who have nothing good or positive to say. All
of their comments are negative and critical and their focus is only on the
bad. If they see the sun shining, they will complain that it is too hot.
If they see the snow falling, they will complain that it is too cold.
Their first instinct is to find something to complain and murmur about, but
that is the opposite of how God wishes for us to act. (Proverbs 4:14-27)

We who know the goodness of God are to praise Him in all things and be
quick to speak words of life, blessing and prosperity. The Bible declares
in Ephesians 4:29 "Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth,
but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace
unto the hearers." Always try your best to be an optimist who sees the
good and not the bad. Communicate words that bring honor and glory to God
and do not fall for the lies of the enemy who encourages you to murmur and
complain and only see the bad that comes your way. (Psalm 139:14-18)

I hope this message ministers to your heart to never be a complainer, but
rather be one who praises God in all things and trusts that all things will
work together for your God because of your faith in Him.

THE GRUMBLE FAMILY

There's a family nobody likes to meet;
They live, it is said, on Complaining Street
In the city of Never-Are-Satisfied,
The River of Discontent beside.

They growl at that and they growl at this;
Whatever comes, there is something amiss;
And whether their station be high or humble,
They are all known by the name of grumble.

The weather is always too hot or cold;
Summer and winter alike they scold.
Nothing goes right with the folks you meet
Down on that gloomy Complaining Street.

They growl at the rain and they growl at the sun;
In fact, their growling is never done.
And if everything pleased them, there isn't a doubt
They'd growl that they'd nothing to grumble about!

But the queerest thing is that not one of the same
Can be brought to acknowledge his family name;
For never a Grumbler will own that he
Is connected with it at all, you see.

The worst thing is that if anyone stays
Among them too long, he will learn their ways;
And before he dreams of the terrible jumble
He's adopted into the family of Grumble.

And so it were wisest to keep our feet
From wandering into Complaining Street;
And never to growl, whatever we do,
Lest we be mistaken for Grumblers, too.

Let us learn to walk with a smile and song,
No matter if things do sometimes go wrong;
And then, be our station high or humble,
We'll never belong to the family of Grumble!

By L. M. Montgomery

We are to remember what the Bible says in Psalm 118:24 "This is the day
which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it." No matter
what comes our way and no matter how discouraging a situation may seem, our
countenance should reflect our confidence in God's ability and goodness to
straighten and uplift our spirit to be a people of praise and not complaint.

Read and meditate on these scriptures:

Matthew 12:35-37 Jesus declares
"A good man out of the good treasure of the
heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure
bringeth forth evil things. But I say unto you, That every idle word that
men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the Day of Judgment.
For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be
condemned."

Philippians 2:2-3 "Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same
love, being of one accord, of one mind. Let nothing be done through strife
or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than
themselves."

Deuteronomy 30:19-20 "I call heaven and earth to record this day against
you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing:
therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: That thou
mayest love the LORD Thy God, and that thou mayest obey His voice, and
that thou mayest cleave unto Him: for He is thy life, and the length of
thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD sware unto thy
fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them."

Philippians 4:8 "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever
things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure,
whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if
there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."

All of these scriptures can be found in the King James Version Bible.
