609th -- The Dark Candle

There are many people in this world who lose loved ones and instead of
mourning their loss as the Bible says we should, they in turn continue in
mourning not allowing themselves to get back up and continue on. When
Aaron died in the Old Testament, all the House of Israel mourned for him
thirty days. When it came time for Moses to die, the children of Israel
wept for Moses on the plains of Moab for thirty days. The Bible says in
Deuteronomy 34:8, “The days of weeping and mourning for Moses were ended.”
According to God's Word we are to mourn our losses healthily, and not
continue in mourning months or years after our loved ones have passed on.
We must be strong for those who are still with us and show them that it's
okay to stand up and continue on in life. (Numbers 20:23-29) (Deut. 34:5-8)

I hope today's message encourages your heart to not stay stagnant if you've
lost a loved one recently, but rather remember the great times that you
shared together and resolve to stand up and live your life where they would
be proud of how you are continuing on.

THE DARK CANDLE

A man had a little daughter -- an only and much-beloved child. He lived
for her -- she was his life. So when she became ill and her illness
resisted the efforts of the best obtainable physicians, he became like a
man possessed, moving heaven and earth to bring about her restoration to
health.

His best efforts proved unavailing and the child died. The father was
totally irreconcilable. He became a bitter recluse, shutting himself away
from his many friends and refusing every activity that might restore his
poise and bring him back to his normal self. But one night he had a dream.

He was in Heaven, and was witnessing a grand pageant of all the little
child angels. They were marching in an apparently endless line past the
Great White Throne. Every white-robed angelic child carried a candle. He
noticed that one child's candle was not lighted. Then he saw that the child
with the dark candle was his own little girl. Rushing to her, while the
pageant faltered, he seized her in his arms, caressed her tenderly, and
then asked: “How is it, darling that your candle alone is unlighted?”
“Father, they often relight it, but your tears always put it out.”

Just then he awoke from his dream. The lesson was crystal clear, and its
effects were immediate. From that hour on he was not a recluse, but mingled
freely and cheerfully with his former friends and associates. No longer
would his darling's candle be extinguished by his useless tears.

Addendum -- Psalms 56:13 “For You have delivered my soul from death.
Have you not kept my feet from falling, That I may walk before God In the
Light of the living?”

Read and meditate on these scriptures:

Revelation 21:3-4 “And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold,
the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they
shall be His people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no
more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more
pain: for the former things are passed away.”

Psalm 40:16-17 “Let all those that seek Thee rejoice and be glad in Thee:
let such as love Thy salvation say continually, The LORD be magnified. But
I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me: Thou art my help and
my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God.”

Philippians 3:13-14 “Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but
this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching
forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the
prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”

1 Corinthians 2:9 “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard,
neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath
prepared for them that love Him.”

All of these scriptures can be found in the King James Version Bible.
