696th -- Message On Humility

I hope you are doing well and are in the best of health. It truly is a
great time to be alive to both enjoy the time God has given us and to serve
Him so that others may receive forgiveness of their sins and receive life
everlasting which is offered to All mankind. The Lord is merciful and
gracious to all people and He wishes for none to perish, but for all to
come to repentance. By coming to repentance, we recognize our sin and need
for the Savior. The Lord promises to cleanse us of our unrighteousness and
make us new creations in Him. Old things are passed away and all things are
become new. It is a joy to know that the God of the universe loves us so
much that He willingly gave Himself as a sacrifice so that we His creation
will have a chance to receive eternal life through His sacrificial death.
There is no greater love than the love that Jesus showed on the Cross.

The Lord has spoken to my heart to write a message on humility. There are
many people in this world who are willing to do good things for others, but
still they want to be recognized for their good work and receive praise for
it. While it is good for others to recognize our good deeds, that should
not be our reason for wanting to bless others and help them to become
better. I hope this message on humility ministers to your heart to see
that God is the one who sees every deed that is done openly and in secret
and He is the one who gives the reward. Our aim should be to please the
Lord and not man because it is God who will give the reward on the earth
and in heaven. (Colossians 3:23) (Matthew 6:3-4) (Luke 6:38) (Revelation 22:12)

There are many instances when Jesus who is our example healed people of
their different diseases and after He had healed them, He told them not to
tell anyone of what He had done for them. I believe there were a few
reasons why the Lord didn't want to draw attention to Himself and one of
those reasons being He did not need to receive praise for the good that the
Lord had done. It is in this same manner that we should do our good deeds
towards others. We should be a blessing towards someone in need not
because we want to receive attention to ourselves, but rather because we
want to see that person doing better than they were before. Jesus calls us
the light of the world. Light is meant to diminish darkness; it is meant
to bring illumination where none exists. We are the light of the world
who are called to bless, encourage, minister, lift up, affirm and support
those who are down and discouraged. (Luke 8:56) (Mark 1:44) (Matthew 5:14-16)

The Lord sees every act that is done on the earth. He is omniscient,
omnipresent and omnipotent. He sees every deed. Those that are done with
and without motive, deeds done for praise and recognition and deeds done in
humility bringing glory and honor to the Lord. We must be careful to
recognize why we are doing good things for others because Jesus declares in
Matthew 6:1-4
“Take heed that you do not do your charitable deeds before
men, to be seen by them. Otherwise you have no reward from your Father in
heaven. Therefore, when you do a charitable deed, do not sound a trumpet
before you as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that
they may have glory from men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their
reward. But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know
what your right hand is doing, that your charitable deed may be in secret;
and your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly.”

It is a great privilege for us to be used of God to bless and minister to
His people. The Lord who inspires and leads our direction wishes for us to
remain humble and serve others with humility. We must remember what the
Bible says in 1 Peter 5:5-6 “…Yea, all of you be subject one to another,
and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace
to the humble. Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God,
that He may exalt you in due time.” There is no need for us to want
recognition from people because the Lord promises that He will lift us up
when we remain humble. The Lord will openly bless us when we do our good
deeds for others in secret. Take courage from this scripture and serve the
Lord with all your heart knowing that those who humble themselves will be
exalted in due time. (Proverbs 16:16-19) (Proverbs 22:4) (Galatians 6:9-10)

We must remember that Jesus was our example on the earth of how we should
interact with one another. We read in Philippians 2:5-8 “Let this mind be
in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God,
thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made Himself of no
reputation, and took upon Him the form of a servant, and was made in the
likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself,
and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.” The Lord has
shown us how we should act towards our fellow man so you be encouraged and
know that there is no need for you to be seen of man to receive praise
because the Lord who sees all things will reward your good work and bless
you so much you will not have room enough to receive it. (Colossians 3:12-17)

Read and meditate on these scriptures:

Philippians 2:2-3 “Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same
love, being of one accord, of one mind. Let nothing be done through strife
or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than
themselves.”

John 13:13-15 Jesus declares
“Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well;
for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye
also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example,
that ye should do as I have done to you.”

Mark 10:28-31 “Then Peter began to say unto Him, Lo, we have left all, and
have followed Thee. And Jesus answered and said,
Verily I say unto you,
There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father,
or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for My sake, and the Gospel’s,
But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren,
and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and
in the world to come Eternal life. But many that are first shall be last;
and the last first.”

Colossians 3:23-25 “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord,
and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of
the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. But he that doeth wrong
shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of
persons.”

All of these scriptures can be found in the King James Version Bible.
