928th -- Message On Being Humble

The Lord has spoken to my heart to write a message on humility and how
those who humble themselves before the Lord will be lifted up in due time.
There are many instances when we become discouraged because the wrong
things are happening to us even though we seem to be doing the right
things. What we must remember is that life is a journey that will have
ups and downs, good times and bad, but if we stay in faith and trust that
God has our best interest in mind, we will see great things happen in our
lives. I hope you are encouraged and inspired by this message to always
have a humble heart and know that your latter end will be much greater than
your former beginnings.

When I think of the servants of God who humbled themselves before Him, many
saints come to mind. I think of Joseph who became second in command of all
of Egypt, but before all that, he was sold into slavery by his brothers.
I think of David who would become King of all of Israel, but before the
throne, he was hunted by King Saul without cause. I think of Abraham's
wife Sarah who at the age of ninety gave birth to Isaac to establish God's
promise to Abraham to make him “A father of many nations”, but before that,
her womb was barren. I also think of Mary the mother of Jesus who humbled
herself before God and said “Be it unto me according to Thy Word” and in
her humility, she accepted God's gift and conceived and gave birth to the
Son of God. All of these saints were used in extraordinary ways in their
time and I believe it all started with them having a humble heart and not
seeing themselves more highly than they ought to. (Genesis 41:39-45)
(2 Samuel 7:8-29) (Genesis 17:5) (Luke 1:38)

God gives each person the chance to be used in mighty ways, but He will
first bring a test to see how faithful and humble they will be in their
time of adversity. Joseph who was the youngest of all his brothers had a
dream one night that he would be the greatest of them all, and when he
shared his dream with them, they hated and despised him for it. They even
planned on killing him, but instead, they sold him to be a slave in Egypt.
Even with all of this betrayal, Joseph stayed faithful to the Lord and
endured even more heartache when he was wrongfully accused by Potiphar's
wife. He was sent to prison for years, but Joseph stayed faithful and in
time Pharaoh had a dream which nobody could interpret except Joseph. When
Pharaoh saw and heard what Joseph had said concerning the future of Egypt,
Pharaoh made Joseph second in command of all of Egypt. Only Pharaoh was
greater than Joseph in power. In one day God took Joseph from the prison
and placed him in the palace. (Genesis 39:7-21)

The Bible declares in 1 Peter 5:5-6 “...Be clothed with humility: for God
resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. Humble yourselves
therefore under the mighty Hand of God, that He may exalt you in due
time.” God resists the proud, but He gives grace to the humble. There
are many examples throughout God's Word where the proud were brought down
because of their arrogance. King Saul ruined his kingdom because of his
jealousy of David. King Nebuchadnezzar became proud and created idols to
be worshiped which displeased God and because of this God took away his
kingdom, but when he realized his errors, God did forgive him and restored
his kingdom. (1 Samuel 18:28-30) (Daniel 4:28-37)

All of the stories and lessons written throughout God's Word are there for
our edification. They are meant to teach us God's laws and statutes and
show us what the right path is for our life to be successful. Everything
written is for our benefit. God does not try to keep things from us, but
His desire is to give us the best of everything. We just have to be
patient and know that our time will come. We have to keep a humble spirit
within us and allow the Lord's perfect will to take place. We cannot force
something to happen because the results would not be to our liking, but if
we say to the Lord “Let your will be done in my life. I trust that your
plans are better than mine and I will humble myself before you and ask for
you to bless me and making a blessing”, that is when we will see great
results. Humbling ourselves before the Lord is the right way to success.
In due time, He will lift us up. We just have to stay in faith until that
perfect time comes. (2 Corinthians 4:15-18) (Isaiah 30:21) (Psalm 28:7-8)

Be encouraged to not allow what you are currently going through to
discourage your heart. Just as Joseph stayed in faith even though he was
going through such hard times, so must we continue on in faith knowing
that God's plans are better than our own. The Lord took Joseph from the
depths of the prison and placed him in the heights of glory and majesty.
Joseph stayed faithful and humble in spirit and was rewarded and as an
example for us to follow, we should do the same. The Bible declares that
God is no respecter of persons. Just as the Lord did in times past, He
will do it again. Stay strong, stay faithful and most importantly
continue to be humble in spirit. When you do, you will see great things
take place in your life. (Acts 10:34) (Genesis 41:51-52) (Psalm 91:9-11)

Read and meditate on these scriptures:

Romans 12:2-3 “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed
by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and
acceptable, and perfect, will of God. For I say, through the grace given
unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more
highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath
dealt to every man the measure of faith.”

2 Corinthians 12:8-10 “For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it
might depart from me. And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for
thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore
will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest
upon me. 10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in
necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I
am weak, then am I strong.”

James 1:2-5 “My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers
temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire,
wanting nothing. If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth
to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”

Philippians 1:6 “Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun
a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.”

All of these scriptures can be found in the King James Version Bible.
