When I was a teen-ager I was introduced to Christ. I was not a church
attendee and the only reason I attended at that time was because my best
friend was a Minister’s daughter. They moved away very soon after my
conversion, as most preachers seem to do. I didn’t go back to Church
until after I had married and became a Mother. When I first started
attending Church as an adult, I used my conversion experience as an
excuse so that I wouldn’t be bothered by people asking me to come
forward to be saved. It didn’t take very many visits to realize that
I wasn’t saved. I went to a revival and really wanted to go forward
but I didn’t think I could live a Christian life by myself. My husband
wouldn’t even attend Church with me. The day after that experience I
was really under conviction. At the time I didn’t realize what was
happening to me. I just couldn’t wait until it was time to go back to the
evening service. I very eagerly went forward and was saved that night.
Several of my brothers-in-law and my mother-in-law also made the
decision to accept Christ as their personal Savior.
I am very sure that we would not be together now if we hadn’t given our
lives to Christ. We will celebrate 50 years of marriage in 2002. Yes,
my husband was not far behind in accepting Christ. In a matter of a
few years he accepted the call to the ministry and has been preaching
the Gospel for 38 years. The Lord blessed us with two girls and a boy
and a great life. We have moved a lot but it has been a great experience.
There have been times when we were not so sure if we were in the right
place. There always seems to be one “unsaved” or misguided person to
help satan with his work.
I wouldn’t trade this life for anything out there in the World. We’ve
never gone hungry, were always able to pay our bills and never wanted
for anything. God has met all our needs. Our girls married young men in
the Church and they became Deacons. They are still very active in His
service. Our Son attends but he needs a closer relationship with Christ.
I know that some day soon he will see the need in rededicating his life
to the Lord. We have been blessed with 8 grandchildren and they are
all Christians. Number eight is not at the present time as she is
only 4 but I know she will when the time comes.
In this day and time I believe that this is the only way to make it
through the problems that will arise in life. God will guide you in
the right paths if you place your trust and faith in Him. I can say
that with all my heart. God is Love and with Him in your life there
will be love all around you from here to Eternity.
