1042nd -- And So It Is

We should always have the right self image of ourselves. Many times we
get down on ourselves because of past mistakes, shortfalls and setbacks
and instead of believing that a brighter day is ahead, we murmur and
complain about all that has gone wrong and about all that we have failed
to accomplish. What we must quickly realize in these instances is that
our words and thoughts will dictate what our future holds for us. It is
important that we remember what the Lord Jesus declares in Matthew 12:36-37
“But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall
give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt
be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.” It is within our
power to bless or curse our own life. How we see ourselves, how we think
about ourselves and what we say about ourselves both internally and
externally will dictate the path for our life. When we realize how
powerful our self image really is, we would be careful then to speak only
encouraging, enthusiastic, inspiring and affirming words of blessings.

When we know we have messed up, verbalizing our shortfalls internally and
externally does nothing to bring about a positive change. Instead we
should say out loud and with faith brimming from within our being “No
matter my mistakes, failures and shortfalls I will rise again and be
victorious in life. I will be blessed in my endeavors. I will triumph
over every obstacle. I will become all who God has made me to be. I will
learn from my past and I will become better because of it.” Never think
it silly to speak blessings over your own life. The Lord Jesus says by
our words we will be condemned or justified. Be conscious of your words
and know that they have creative power. Use them to your benefit and not
to your detriment.

Say to yourself daily “I am wonderful, I am blessed, I am encouraged, I am
lifted up, I am loved by God, I am forgiven of my past, I am a new
creation in Christ and all that God has made me to be, I will become.”
Change what you are saying about yourself and you will soon find a
positive change coming. Believe in yourself again and know that your past
does not define you. It simply serves a purpose in making you better in
this present time and in your future to come. Believe it for yourself and
if you need to, change what you say about yourself. You will soon find by
blessing your own future today, it will catch up with you and it will be
blessed in the end.

I hope this message inspires and challenges your heart to see how important
it is to have a good self image about yourself. See how beneficial it is
to bless your own life with your positive, authoritative and encouraging words.

AND SO IT IS

“I can't do anything right!” the young man said.

I hesitated to say anything. It was really none of my business. I hear
people undermining their lives all the time.

“I'm so stupid!” he shouted.

“And so it is!” I said quietly to myself.

At least I thought I did.

“What did you say?” he asked of me.

I was embarrassed for having been heard.

“I guess...I was really talking to myself,” I said.

“Yeah, I do that, too,” he replied. “Why would anyone else want to?”

“But you are saying all the wrong things,” I said.

He stopped what he was doing and approached me.

“What are you talking about? And what business is it of yours?” he asked.

Okay, now I've gone too far into this. He's a bit angry at himself and
now me for getting involved.

“Well, I was talking about you and it's really none of my business, you
are right.”

He stood looking at me, waiting.

“I hear people putting themselves down all the time.” “I can't!” “I'm so
stupid!” "Dummy!" “I can't do anything right!”

“So?”

“And so it is!”

“And so what is?”

“When you keep feeding yourself things like that it becomes a reality. Say
you're stupid enough times and you begin to believe it. Say that you can't
and you can't.”

“Oh, don't waste that positive stuff on me!” he shouted.

“There you go again. Why is it a waste?”

“Because it just doesn't work on me.”

“And so it is!” I said. Then standing right in front of him I said, “It
works, you don't.”

“Hey, do you think I'm stupid?”

“No, but you do. And having just met you for the first time and hearing
you say all those things to yourself, I'd have to guess you were right.”

“Well, I'm not!” he said as he walked away.

“Now keep saying that to yourself and see what a difference it makes in
your life!” I yelled to him as he left the room.

I was frustrated. I spend my life trying to get people to see beauty in
the world and love in their life. I write stories to inspire, plant a
seed, adjust an attitude, or simply fill a void.

I wish I could say that moments later the young man came rushing back to
tell me that he needed to hear what I had to say.

It didn't happen.

You see, the business I'm in is based on faith. I believe in something
bigger than I, but I can't see it.

I believe in hope, but I can't measure it. I move ahead through life
following my dreams, but I can't touch them. So, I write stories and send
them to friends I've never met. I speak to rooms full of people I will
never see again. I write and speak about those things that touch us all.
Like wanting to believe in something bigger. Finally knowing that when
all appears lost, there's always hope. Dreams make today worth living and
tomorrow worth waiting for.

“And so it is.”

Read and meditate on these scriptures:

James 3:10-12 “Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My
brethren, these things ought not so to be. Doth a fountain send forth at
the same place sweet water and bitter? Can the fig tree, my brethren,
bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield
salt water and fresh.”

Psalm 118:24 “This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice
and be glad in it.”

Psalm 23:1-4 “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to
lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters. He
restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His
name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil: for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff they
comfort me.”

Isaiah 41:9-10 “Thou whom I have taken from the ends of the earth, and
called thee from the chief men thereof, and said unto thee, Thou art my
servant; I have chosen thee, and not cast thee away. Fear thou not; for I
am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee;
yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of My
righteousness.”

Philippians 4:8-9 “Finally brethren, whatsoever things are true,
whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever
things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of
good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on
these things. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and
heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.”

All of these scriptures can be found in the King James Version Bible.
