There comes a time in each of our lives when we become silent and reflect
within ourselves the true meaning of life. We think about our family, we
think about our successes and failures, we think about death and we even
think about heaven and hell. When we enter into these moments of
reflection, it is important that we think seriously about our eternity.
Life on earth no matter how long it may seem to us in this present time is
only a drop of water when compared to the vastness of eternity that is
like an ocean. Our physical bodies have a beginning and an ending, but
our spirit and soul that lies within our body has no ending. A theologian
might say there was a moment when we never were, but there will never be
another moment when we will not be. Our true self will live on forever
and one must make the decision for themselves to get right with God.
(James 4:14) (Matthew 10:28-29) (John 6:58)
Innately we know that we are far from God. We know from the depths of our
being that we need to be reconciled with the One who created us.
Thankfully God made provision for us. He knew that we could never be
justified by our own works, He knew that all of our righteousness are as
filthy rags before Him and God knew that without His intervention we would
be without hope. What did God do that was so great? He sent His One and
only Son the Lord Jesus Christ to be our Substitute, to be our Sacrifice,
to be our Redeemer so that we might be justified before God. The Lord
Jesus took all of our sins, iniquities and shortfalls and covered them
with His blood on the Cross. He justified us when we could never justify
ourselves. He redeemed us when we could never redeem ourselves and He
saved us when we could never save ourselves.
(Isaiah 64:6) (1 Peter 1:18-21) (Romans 5:8-11)
This sacrifice was made for all mankind. The Lord Jesus made an inclusive
sacrifice meaning that all who accept His Finished Work would be forgiven,
redeemed, justified and made righteous before God The Father. When God
looks down upon us, He does not see us as sinful human beings, He sees us
justified and made righteous through the blood of Jesus Christ. God looks
upon us through the Lord Jesus Christ and because He does, He calls us His
beloved child. This love is infinite, it is unfailing and it is
unwavering. Simply call upon the Lord and confess your sins. Confession
and repentance is what God requires of us and when we simply acknowledge
our shortfalls and accept the Lord Jesus Christ and His sacrifice for
ourselves, we will be justified and redeemed.
(John 3:16) (Romans 10:9-13) (2 Peter 3:9)
Be encouraged to make that decision if you have never done so before. God
is not mad at you and He is not shaking His fist in anger, but He wishes
for you to be one with Him. He wishes for you to reconcile and be made
righteous. We must take the first step towards God, but when we do, He
will come running towards us. (Jeremiah 31:3) (James 4:8) (Revelation 3:20)
Read and meditate on these scriptures:
Ezekiel 33:11 “Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord God, I have no
pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way
and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die...”
John 3:17-18 Jesus declares “For God sent not His Son into the world to
condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved. He that
believeth on Him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned
already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son
of God.”
Isaiah 55:6-7 “Seek ye the Lord while He may be found, call ye upon Him
while He is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man
his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and He will have mercy
upon him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.”
Romans 10:9-11 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus,
and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead,
thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness;
and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture
saith, Whosoever believeth on Him shall not be ashamed.”
1 John 5:11-13 “And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal
life, and this life is in His Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he
that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written
unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that
ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”
