1111th -- A Smiling Face

Whether we realize it or not our life's example speaks louder than any
words can ever say. How we carry ourselves, how we treat those around us
and how we interact with our fellow man really shows our character and we
will either be looked upon with fondness or dismay depending on how we
treated and interacted with those around us. We should always be quick to
leave any situation better than it was before we arrived. With our words,
acts and deeds we should lift up those who are downtrodden, we should
impart an affirming and encouraging word to that one who is discouraged
and with our countenance we should brighten up someone else's day and let
them know that they are truly loved. It doesn't take much to change
someone else's day for the better. A simple smile, a kind gesture, a
welcoming word or a friendly hug can do so much to turn around someone's
day and remind them that others do care for their well-being.

Our objective and mission in life is to be an example of God's love and to
show them that goodness still exists within humanity. We should never act
like the world does and only want for our own well-being. Our selfishness
does nothing to bring about a better world, but when we esteem others
higher than we esteem ourselves, we are doing so much to change this world
for the better one person at a time. One thing we should always remember
and keep in mind is that our life can start a ripple effect in the lives
of others. When we do something kind for someone else without any motive
behind it, they will also be encouraged to do the same for someone else
and so on and so forth. Knowing that our life can be the catalyst to
which the lives of multitudes can be changed for the better should give us
that unction to take the initiative and do good for our fellow man. Let
us be the example of hope and love that so many people need and with our
simple life let us change the lives of multitudes. That is my prayer for us.

I hope this message inspires and challenges your heart to see that you can
make a difference in the lives of others by being an example of God's love.

A SMILING FACE

I was in a local store the other day getting my furry, four-legged friends
some food. It was a busy time of the day and instead of just running in
and out I found myself behind three other people in the checkout line. I
didn’t really mind, though, when I saw that one of my favorite cashiers was
on duty. This cashier always takes the time to give you a few kind words
and a warm smile along with your change. There is no extra charge for the
pleasantness, cheerfulness, and goodness she gives even though they are
the most valuable things in the store.

As I was waiting to checkout I glanced at one of the magazines on the rack.
I noticed it had a female celebrity wearing a gem studded gown worth four
times as much as my friendly cashier could make in a year. When I looked
at it, however, I couldn’t help but think that nothing on that dress
sparkled as brightly or shined as beautifully as that cashier’s joyful smile.

In this life everyone is our teacher. Some teach us how to live and some
teach us how not to live. I think that both the celebrity and the cashier
taught me the same thing that day. They both taught me that it is far less
important how we dress up our lives and far more important how we live our
lives. What use, after all, is an eighty thousand dollar evening gown that
will be worn only once. A smile can be worn every single day and its uses
are never ending. It can uplift a hurting heart. It can bring laughter to
a weary soul. It can share the warm glow of friendship. It can reconnect
us to the human family. It can show us just how beautiful life can be. It
can remind us just how much God loves us, and it can open a window inside
of us so that the light and joy of Heaven can enter.

Don’t spend too much time or money dressing up your life then. Spend your
time living it instead. Remember the most beautiful things we can wear are
a loving heart and a smiling face.

Read and meditate on these scriptures:

James 1:22-25 “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving
your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is
like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth
himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man
he was. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth
therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man
shall be blessed in his deed.”

Philippians 2:5-7 “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
But made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Him the form of a servant,
and was made in the likeness of men.”

Psalm 34:11-15 “Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the
fear of the LORD. What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days,
that he may see good? Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from
speaking guile. Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.
The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and His ears are open unto
their cry.”

Psalm 37:3-6 “Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the
land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the LORD; and
He shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the
LORD; trust also in Him; and He shall bring it to pass. And He shall bring
forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.”

Matthew 6:19-21 Jesus says,
“Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon
earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through
and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither
moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor
steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”
