We who have been forgiven by the Lord for our iniquities also owe much to
the Lord for His mercy and grace that is given to us so undeservedly. We
could never pay God back for all that He has done for us, but when we care
for our fellow man and treat them favorably as God has treated us, we are
imparting a similar blessing upon them and showing them by our actions that
goodness exists within humanity. We should always take the initiative to
be an example of good when we have the opportunity. We should impart our
own kind of blessing and help to shine a light in the darkness. When we
treat others kindly, give of our time, share a kind word, give a gentle
hug, smile in someone's direction, we are making a difference in very
subtle and simple ways. We don't need to sound a trumpet to make an
impact. Simply showing an interest in someone else can be enough to
encourage them and brighten up their day.
We should put ourselves in someone else's shoes and see where the need is.
How can we help to make a bad situation just a little bit better? How can
we turn around someone's day? How can our life be made useful? We should
contemplate these questions and search wholeheartedly on how our life can
be used to make a positive and lasting impact. When we know we've made a
difference we will be thankful that God found us worthy enough to be used
for His eternal purposes. Galatians 6:2-5 declares “Bear ye one another’s
burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. For if a man think himself to
be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself. But let every man
prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and
not in another.”
Let us see where the need is and let us do our best to fill that need and
lighten up someone else's burden. Just as we would wish man to do unto
us, let us do unto man. Make your life useful. Make it impactful. Let
your life be thought upon and remembered long after you are gone and not
because you tried to get something from someone else, but because you
tried your best to give of yourself wholeheartedly.
I hope this message inspires and challenges your heart to leave every
situation better than it was before you arrived. Bring sunshine into the
lives of others where it will be so bright they will need sunglasses.
A RAY OF SUNSHINE
I had never seen a ray of sunshine walk before. Still, there it was walking
into a local store ahead of me. As soon as this ray walked in too it lit up
the whole room. The faces of everyone there brightened with joy. People who
were staring down at the floor looked up with sparkling eyes. Mouths that
were closed and frowning quickly opened with cheerful smiles. Voices that
were quiet before suddenly spoke out with both laughter and kindness
greeting this beam of light by name. Spirits that were feeling a little
down were soon soaring skyward again. The entire store seemed happier all
thanks to this walking ray of sunshine.
This ray of light is my oldest son. In the eyes of the world he is seen as
mentally handicapped. In the eyes of Heaven, however, he is seen as so
much more. His concern, caring, laughter, love, gentleness, and good cheer
light up the lives of everyone he meets. His bright and beautiful spirit
touches the hearts of so many every day. When it comes to the essential
things in life he is far less handicapped than the rest of us. In the eyes
of Heaven he is a shining angel on a divine mission to bring more love and
more light into this world that needs it so much.
While my son happily goes about making this world a better place I do my
best to follow his example. I do my best to love as simply, freely,
enthusiastically, and unconditionally as he does. I do my best to brighten
the days of others without any thought for myself. I do my best to live as
a Child of God and a being of light each and every day here.
You too can be a ray of sunshine in this often cloudy world. You too can
shine bright and light up the lives of so many others. Just fill yourself
full of God’s love and light and then go out and share it with the world.
It isn’t hard to do. In fact, it is the most joyous thing any of us can
do. Live well, love others, and like my son you will make this world a
little brighter today.

Read and meditate on these scriptures:
1 Corinthians 13:4-8 “Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth
not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself
unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things,
believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity
never faileth...”
1 Corinthians 12:26-28 “And whether one member suffer, all the members
suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with
it. Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular. And God hath
set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly
teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments,
diversities of tongues.”
James 1:22-25 “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving
your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is
like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth
himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man
he was. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth
therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man
shall be blessed in his deed.”
Matthew 19:29-30 Jesus declares, “And every one that hath forsaken houses,
or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or
lands, for My name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit
everlasting life. But many that are first shall be last; and the last
shall be first.”
Galatians 6:7-10 “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man
soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of
the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the
Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well doing: for
in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. As we have therefore
opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of
the household of faith.”
